(Ex-NFL cheerleader, Elizabeth “Leigh” Garner, is being accused of “sexually assaulting” a 12-year-old boy after she took him into a bathroom during a party and fondled him.)

Had to share this for the multiple number of double standards exposed...

First, If the roles were reversed, he'd already be in jail and the media, feminists and "rape culture-ists" would be raking him over the coals. So far, this lady is already in line for a "pussy pass".

Second, her "i was drunk, so I am not responsible for my actions" defense.
Again, no man is allowed to "get out of jail free" with this card, but it's okay for women.

Third, a pre-teen boy fought off and escaped the clutches of a healthy adult woman, from close confines, and then IMMEDIATELY told someone.
If he can, why can't girls fight off (or fight harder) to escape attackers? then report it right away? (instead of 3 days later)

Oh, and for all those who wanna try the reverse "blaming" argument of
"woman as victims get blamed, why are you not blaming him",
here is the key = 1) he is a CHILD, 2) he was NOT DRUNK, and 3) he was NOT DRESSED FOR SEX.

Elizabeth “Leigh” Garner behaved inappropriately & was punished for it. She was beaten up by the boy's mother. The authorities should just punish neither woman.

If Elizabeth “Leigh” Garner ends up in court she should bring up the fact that she was beaten up by the boy's mother.

I don't condone what Elizabeth did but there are worse things that can happen to your son. Like your son getting bullied in school or having premarital sex.

Double standard? You mean like the swimmer who only got 6 month for aggravated rape (or as his father called it "20 minutes of action", as if he was just getting his rocks off with a willing companion)?

If she assaulted a kid, she should of course be arrested and prosecuted, just like a man should be when doing similar things. Sadly, rape and sexual assault have an extremely low report rate, so a large majority of rapists don't even get reported.

A lot of men still use the "I was drunk so I am not responsible for my actions" or "she was drunk so she has herself to blame". And, only about 10 percent of rapists get convicted, so most male rapists DO get the "get out of jail free" card.

ONE boy acted like this, not all boys. A lot of girls fight off their rapists too and report it IMMEDIATELY, and some get distrusted for it ("if you're this composed and collected, it can't have been a real assault").

Most young girls who are raped are also children, not drunk and not dressed for sex.

The authorities DO care. But authorities are made up of people, who may have kids of their own, and who might feel like beating up anyone who harm their own children. So they might be a bit lenient towards parents who act in affect. I don’t think Elie is saying it’s good that this happens, just that it does happen.

Ms. Garner was beaten up; that brought quite a bit of damage into her life (whether she deserves it or not, she was harmed). As to the authorities taking this into account; to my knowledge the US doesn’t have corporal punishments (like public flogging) for crimes, so the beating-up have no impact on the penalty for a sexual assault.

Again, no 'Unsaved' person is allowed a 'Get out of jail free card', but it's okay for 'Saved' Christians to think they have the right to think they can continue to sin: when, by definition, their 'Saved' status therefore means they don't have the right to think in any way other than their J-boy did: be utterly pure; certainly not thinking that they have the right to continue to think in the exact-same right-wing way of thinking they did previously. I refer you to the Quakers & Unitarian Universalists: they are infinitely more Christ-like than any right-wing fundie Christain has the right to think they are.

Secular democratic society has more than every right in the world to tell religion what to do: and it MUST obey; Romans 13:1-5. So what if fundies are 'bullied' in the process because they are forced to conform to the New Paradigm & it's laws? Fundies have had ruled the roost for far too long, that they've had their chance: and blew it big time. Thus religion has no right to tell people what to do; indeed, via legislation, the people have more than every right in the world to tell not only religion, but you fundies' 'God', and all his believers what to do. Mike Fuckabee and ISIS have made sure of that.
