Not surprising.

SWToR was pretty hilarious.

The Jedi (the 'good' guys) were blatantly pro-multiculturalism. To earn "light points" you would have to give answers like "Race doesn't matter, any race can be great with the force, even freakish, uncivilized aliens." (in essence)

They were also damn near pacifists.

Meanwhile the Sith were xenophobic nationalist elitists, the 'bad' guys. They barely tolerated other races, considered themselves superior users of the force (and pretty much were) and commanded a massive empire.

Unfortunately, the empire had been taken over by races who claimed to be Sith but were not racially Sith, and the racial Sith secretly want to take their empire back. The covert usurpers obviously play the role of Neo-Con Jews.

And the best part, was that the racial Sith empire was not originally hostile to the Jedi. They were simply so powerful and impressive that the Jedi freaked out and tried to genocide the Sith for being too powerful (Hello NAZI Germany, demonized and bludgeoned because they were too awesome).

But of course those racist red Sith people are just evil and wrong.

The best part was how overwhelmingly popular the nationalist Sith empire was compared to the multicult hippie Jedi (at least on my server).

They're going far out of their way to identify with explicitly evil empires built on murder, sociopathy, and badly disproven racism in their own fictional universes. Empires that fail miserably. First you complain the Jedi are pacifists, then decry their reaction to an aggressively expanding empire? Were you calling the Jedi intolerant Nazis (whom you worship) or are you saying that the Sith (and Hitler) never invaded anybody and the violent annexation of other worlds (countries) wasn't worth starting a war over?

Hell if you're talking about the games specifically, which I have to assume from mention of earning light side karma, look no further than the Rakatan for the endgame of those empires. They went from having an "Infinite Empire" to being inbred cannibals deprived of their connection to the Force and exiled to the ass end of the galaxy after so many years of kicking around the weak, cultural stagnation, and selective breeding.

Make no mistakes, dear friends.

Nazis were very elegant & impressive. Charles Lindberg, not an idiot, was amongst the millions of foreigners falling in love with the nazis. Calling for Hugo Boss himself for designind SS's uniform was a very clever move from them.

Add to this fairly advanced weapon systems(for the time), impressive numbers, a proper military training, some luck in the first wars, and awesome propaganda, and you build yourself an impressive legends that still impress weaker minds decades after it's been proven that you were just a bag of shit with an unsustainable economic system(not counting the murders, of course).

And then, you've got kids, unsure of themselves, who feel rejected by the majority, and who rally en masse behind the archenemy of this majority : nazism. Dark side of the force, as yoda said, is no more powerful than the bright side, yet quicker & more seductive. Weak minds fall to its deadly seduction, & therefore threaten the whole community.

That's a real danger, I fear.

I agree, I just have to nitpick one point that irks me whenever I see it: Hugo Boss did indeed produce uniforms for the SS and other Nazi organizations (as one of multiple suppliers), but that he did design them is an urban legend.

From the German Wikipedia (unfortunately the English version does not have that passage):

But your point stands, the uniforms looked good*. The Nazis (especially Göbbels) knew how use aesthetics to their advantage, see the movies by Leni Riefenstahl.

*And ironically the army of so-called “anti-fascist” East Germany kept this design for their uniforms

I don't want to sound like a fundy Star Wars guy, but *sigh*

Jedi are barred from public office due to their Jedi code. They are a military order that is tasked with keeping peace in the Republic.

The Republic's main body was the Senate, a unicameral Westminster style government with no head of state. The Senate had two senators elected from each planet in the Republic and it was common practice to send the head of state as senior senator and the head of government as junior senator.

Also in the original trilogy, democracy was the main goal of the Rebel Alliance, in fact their name was the Alliance to Restore the Republic.

Is wrong.
In Darth Bane's lifetime (about 3,000 years before the films) Tarsus Valorum was elected as the first non-Jedi Chancellor in a millenia, so the Jedi were only barred from public office at that point, when the Ruusan Reformations went through.

As an aside, the relentlessly hippy nature of the Jedi is quite irritating, as they accept the privilege but then decry it so as to remain morally clean.
This is why I was hugely unhappy with Jacen Solo being turned into a generic baddie, up until that point he had managed to be a Jedi and a person, rather than a thoroughly unrealistic "avatar of goodness" like every other jedi character that isn't going off the rails at the time.
