[On atheism being protected by the First Amendment]
This is just one more attack by s*tan, on a country that was built on the principles of Christianity. Our fore-fathers based our whole constitution on Christian belief. Athiest's today are doing everything they can to tear that down for the simple reason it mentions God. So tell me that athiest's don't believe He exists again. You don't fight an enemy (God) that you don't believe exists. Again I say, all things must come to pass for this world to end. And then you will know the Truth. But it will be too late to ask for salvation then. It's not too late now.

I just don't get it.
Christians were being murdered by the dozens when their religion started out. Now all it takes is a handful of scientists and a few pansy-ass laws to undo it all?
Or does it have to do with modern Christianity being out of touch with what made them the dominant religion in the first place?
Never mind, my satanic brain at work again. I'm sure the good Christians fix it for me soon.
The forefathers tried to separate religion from politics to prevent past abuses they saw in Europe with rulers using religion as a tool to pass bad agendas.
And finially, anyone has up until the moment they die to repent. I think he's jealous of the "11th hour workers."
Treaty of Tripoli, dljc: The U.S. is not, and never was, a Christian nation or founded in any way upon Christianity.
And atheists don't fight "God"; you can't fight what doesn't exist. Atheists fight religion , or at least its unbridled assault on their own freedoms and sensibilities.
But then, it seems to be far too much to expect any measure of honesty from fundamentalists, who twist and warp the truth until they convince themselves it has assumed the shape that they want.

"You don't fight an enemy (God) that you don't believe exists."
No, but we do fight fundies who, unfortunately, not only exist, but multiply, then homeschool.
You obviously don't think we can exist, then, so you refuse to fight.
We win by default because we secretly DO exist.
Our fore-fathers based our whole constitution on Christian belief.
WRONG!
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof
Athiest's today are doing everything they can to tear that down for the simple reason it mentions God.
Have you even read the damn constitution?
Isn't lying a sin?
Our fore-fathers based our whole constitution on Christian belief.
If they did, the 1st amendment wouldn't even be there.
Athiest's today are doing everything they can to tear that down for the simple reason it mentions God.
Where? Are we reading the same constitution?
You don't fight an enemy (God) that you don't believe exists.
You don't believe in Allah do you? I'm willing to be if our money said "In Allah we trust" youd fight to take it off.
It totally fails to mention God, actually. The Declaration made reference to a Creator, though it's an unconnected document.
I believe in you, dljc. Isn't that nice of me? And I can fight you without addressing your deity. Who'd be a jerk if he existed, but I'm glad he doesn't, because the real world presents us with enough versions of the choice between submitting to greater power and suffering horribly.
Has he ever read the constitution? Of course he hasn't, most of his ilk from flock to preachers and right up to political representitives make this "America founded on Christianity as stated in the constitution" claim. Some like this guy, from ignorance, taking others word for it and ignoring the actual document.
They bug me but not as much as the preachers and statesmen who have read it and lie about it. Fox TV too, who make so much of it, who claim they have experts on it yet still push this lie
You need to ready that Constitution a bit more thorough, Mr or Ms dljc. To my knowledge it most certainly doesn't mention any particular god.
So, you would never fight Allah or Shiva, you are perfectly fine with others believing in them?
If it's too late now, then why bother? We'll just keep on living a happy, generous life, treating others as we want to be treated, just because it's the sane thing to do. Not because some sky-bully allegedly tells us to.
First of all, who's Stan, and what in the hell is his problem? Second, the whole "atheists have to believe in god to not believe in him" bullshit is really getting old. Atheists don't fight against your god, we fight against ignorance, of which your god happens to be a part of.
Thing is, dljc, technically the First Amendment doesn't protect our right to not be harrassed by you for being atheists. Normal harassment-type laws do that.
The First Amendment means the US Government cannot pass religion laws. No outlawing, no establishing. No favoritism.
So you can believe these things all you like. But the fundamental law of the land says the other laws must be impartial. Okay?
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
