it would be a terrible thing at this point in our history to start lynching black men again, but if Steele doesn't get on board with conservatism, doesn't stop his RINO shit, I'll help pick the oak tree.
This could be the worst case of compartmentalised, cargo-cult thinking ever. It's as if this guy is so intellectually weak, as if he perceives reality through such a dense fog, that he's just barely aware that lots of people are expressing contempt for his ideals, and that it might be in his interest to try not to make them angry, but somehow thinks that merely by saying that he agrees, by saying the magic words they all seem to want him to say, will be enough to placate them, even as he continues actually doing all the things for which those words express such disgust and condemnation - in this case to the point where he can't even see the problem with actually saying he'll do them in the same sentence as he "agrees" that they're bad.
It really seems as if some people just cannot make a strong connection in their heads between spoken or written words describing reality, and reality as one might actually sense it first-hand. You see it a lot in the likes of fundies who'd recoil in horror to actually witnessing torture or death, but don't feel even slightly uncomfortable reading biblical accounts of it.
Just check out this, for example:

Towards the end, the guy actually constructs a graphic, visceral textual description of appalling brutality, and honestly expects us to be far less bothered by it, as he presumably is due to some mental deficiency, than if it had been filmed.
