Didn't Thomas Jefferson have some nice things to say about the Qur'an?
Guess this guy also doesn't think that atheists, Hindus, Pagans, Buddhists and every other world religion shouldn't have First Amendment protection either since he says Christian only.
Freedom of religion was for CHRISTIANS only
But the Founding Fathers were too stupid to forgetful to put that little detail in the 1st Amendment, and you know this because you're a mind-reader of the dead? Besides, what good would freedom of religion be if it only applied to Christians? That would be like saying the North Koreans have freedom to praise Kim Jung Un.
I dislike making references to George Orwell - he would've hated his ideas becoming meaningless political buzzwords - but this truly is a shining example of doublethink as described in 1984. Forney here believes, at the same time, that 1) we have freedom of religion and 2) Americans can only be Christian.
You are free to worship what you want as long as you worship my god!
OK, Matt, we think you're ready for seven-letter words now. Can you say "freedom"?........it's OK, don't cry, we will put you back into five- and six-letter words for a few more weeks if you don't think you can cut it in the advanced class. I'll write a note to your mommy.
** Matt Forney grits his teeth, resorts to muttered four-letter words**
Just another case of Christians trying to claim ownership of everything, and trying to make it what they want it to be, even though it's plainly not. That of course is the basis of the whole "founded as a Christian Nation" claim.
But this just goes to show you, THAT is what these guys mean when they talk about stuff like "freedom of religion" or "religious liberty"...
They don't really mean freedom of religion, they mean "freedom to do whatever the hell we want in the name of our religion, and everyone else just has to deal with it."
I'm sorry, but that is historically inaccurate. The original colonies had a Jewish population, who were protected by the first amendment. Additionally, during the Barbary Pirate incidents, Thomas Jefferson specifically denied that the US was at war with all Muslims.
How old was Mary when she was raped and impregnated by the Holy Ghost?
I forget which is the most genocidal one; did God/Allah/YHWH kill all life on Earth except eight people and two/seven of each "kind" according to the Quran, or according to the Bible?
How can you spare America from Europe's Christian wars by doing the same thing that Europe is doing?
Claiming that Islam is NOT protected by the First Amendment is a perversion of the Founding Fathers' intent. They were aware of the existence of Islam and would have worded it very differently if they had the intent to keep that particular Abrahamic religion out of America.
Confused?
