Actually, humans were first classified as primates by Carl Linnaeus in 1767 (a full century before Dsrwin's Origin of Species in 1859!) He was a creationist trying to make sense of God's Crestion. He was only dealing with humans BIOLOGICALLY--and said so explicitly. He said nothing about any kind of soul or spirit.
