My 10 year old daughter and I have been discussing how demons attack us spiritually and how they can "encourage" bad behaviour sometimes. She was recently saved and baptized.

Anyway, I have been telling her when she is scared or having problems that seem to make her feel like she is being spiritually attacked to say "demons get away from me". I've told her that they have to leave if she tells them to.

Anyway, she wants to know if there is any scripture to back that up. Does it say anywhere that we can rebuke demons and they have to leave? I feel like it's there somewhere, but I'm not finding it.

Any help please?

my question is what does the bible say? did Peter have "formal" training? Did John?
I believe it's individual to the man, and what God has truly called him to.
Our current pastor doesn't even have a high school diploma. ( he was Homeschooled and didn't get a GED or anything.) But he did go to 2 years of Bible college.
I'll tell you what though, this man KNOWS the Word.
I think what's more important, is who did He study under? Did he have good spiritual mentoring leading up to his pastoring a church?
I don't believe it's the form of "formal" education that matters, it's the man's heart for the Lord and truly knowing the Word in order to pass it on to the people.

Scripture says He will use the foolish to comfound the wise, and it also says He qualifies the called. If the man is allowing the Spirit to teach through him, and committed to the Word and only the Word, he should be fine.

There are a number of lines of legal forensic evidence that could be presented.

One would be that life is too complex to have come into existence by time, chance and random processes. There is no way you could add information to the genetic machinery for increased complexity unless there was an intelligence designing and directing the adding of information.

That leads to, well who is that intelligence then? From there you can point out that the Bible claims to be a message from that intelligence. Ok, then how do I know that the Bible is really from the creator? There are a number of lines of evidence one can consider.

Bible prophecy and its accurate fulfillment is strong evidence that the Bible is from that Creator. There are hundreds of prophecies already accurately fulfilled and many more ready to be fulfilled in the end times.

The life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ has strong legal evidence that it truly happened. The gospels are 4 eyewitness accounts of these events admissable in any court of law. There were over 500 eyewitnesses to the resurrection of Jesus Christ available also. Secular historians recorded the fact of the existence of a man named Jesus Christ. The dead sea scrolls attest to the accuracy of the manuscipts we now have. The writings of the early church fathers preserve virtually every verse in the Bible which affirms our current Bible.

Well, today I had to stay after my college ended in order to finish up a project that's due tomorrow (fun). Everything went fine, I packed up to leave, and went to wash the conte off my hands when something on the table caught my attention. There was a big paper lying on the sink table, with various doodles on it. I saw a cross drawn on there, and thought that was pretty cool, but right near it there was one of those darwin fish. Maybe it's just me, but something about those things just makes me want to take some kind of action as soon as I see one. I always try to tract the vehicles that have those on their bumper, but I couldn't do that in this situation. And since conte isn't really erasable, I couldn't annihilate it . I thought maybe I could alter it in some way instead...
As you can see, I turned the legs into crosses and went with the most obvious choice of composition [crosses]. Just a neat little thing I wanted to share.

[Regarding 'witnessing' to friends]

Yeah, I've lost everyone basically. All my family, even getting a "you're an apostate" letter from JW aunt. All friends are gone. My neighbors have done something nasty toward me for giving them tracts, my step-brother (he's in his 60's!) called me a name... can't remember what it is now, but a horrendous email. I only have my Christian friends, my son, and my husband left. Jesus did not come to bring peace, but a sword.

Keep proclaiming His Word. He is THE way, THE truth, and THE life. If they don't hear it and repent, they go to hell............... forever. Keep telling people about Him! He's worthy of it, we're commanded to do it, and what is your life anyway but a vapor. One day, He will wipe away every tear too!

I have a question along a very similar vein.
Yesterday I was talking with my great-aunt. She told me that when my grandmother (her sister) was going to be baptized, she asked her if my grandpa had been baptized. If he hadn't then she'd better not get baptized herself because she wouldn't be spending eternity with him! Then as I began to explain God's truth to her she said that she thought she was good enough to get into heaven probably because she'd never really done anything much wrong and if she wasn't good enough that was ok because all of her friends would be in hell anyway. There was more to it than that - she made some more inane statements and I calmly tried to just explain things to her - about believing and not works, repenting of sins. I just sort of figured she'd know all this at her age. She's in her 70's. Has she never heard a sermon at someone's funeral?

My question is - do I follow up now? Or do I let her go on the info I've provided and just pray. If I kept after her - would that be casting my pearls before swine?

My oldest son is unsaved, and I drive him to and from work, so he doesn't need house keys but I've been worrying about how he'd get in the house if we were raptured while he was at work. I knew if I suggested he carry a set of keys "in case of rapture" he'd belittle the idea, but last night he said "You may not have noticed, but I've got your spare keys, do you mind if I keep them?" It made me wonder if it's getting close and the Lord is preparing the way.

I would agree with BibleNuggetLady, and say those sites are places the Lord would not want you to go. NO one there is open to having their minds changed. I would consider them the very definition of "swine" because they have made up their minds to roll around in the "mud of the world" rather than hold themselves up to any kind of Godly standard. They have as much potential in their souls as anyone else, but have CHOSEN not to use it.

I like the paintballs leave a mark and so does sin, I bet we can work that in with the "missing your target" idea.

This started out as a birthday party for our sons, but it keeps growing. We have a friend that wants to bring someone who is not saved, just so the unsaved friend could be around some Christian teens. That's when I offered to have a Gospel presentation at the lunch break, because I know not all the kids that will be there have heard the Gospel.

My oldest son overheard us planning, rolled his eyes and said, "Do you have to turn everything into an outreach? We can't do anything without you sharing the Gospel." Despite him rolling his eyes, I took that as a compliment!

The fact is that America is still the foremost nuclear power. We have LOTS of nukes. If Iran ever attacked us at our current state, they'd be committing suicide or any country for that matter.

They weren't originally meant to be chopped down." unquote, then Jesus should have not been a carpenter, that would have been a sin since he was defacing his creation by building something out of wood. Then that would also mean he was not sinless.

I just can't believe how many of us feel like any day could be the day. Not only us, but non-christians as well. I live in Illinois and we have had nothing but rain. When it started and kept going, day-after-day, I started to see that God was "cleansing" the earth! I don't know for fact, for each morning when I looked out the window, I could hear the words "God's cleansing the earth". I was reading this thread again and somewhere back they were talking about Christmas decorations, etc., and I started to laugh because I started selling all my collectible ornaments in January. Everytime I look at my Christmas stuff, all I can think is "I won't be needing that anymore!" Can you believe that! I thought it was just me, but I quite pleased to know that I'm in good company! I don't love anything (material wise) anymore and I've been selling and selling it off, with no regrets and a smile on my face! What is that about? I always buy off-season, but this year, nope, didn't do it. My gut feeling keep telling me "no, you're not going to need it". Also, I've noticed the people God has been putting into my life, crossing paths so-to-speak and each one(s) I meet or reacquaint myself with, somehow turns the subject to the Lord and what is going on. Then bang, I'm in...and by the time we've finished our discussion, they are excited about the conversation we've just had and they start reading the Bible or at least are more eager to learn about the Lord Jesus. My life and family's life took a major turn these last couple of years and at first, I just couldn't figure out what He was doing with my life and why this road and not another. Silly me, shame on me for even wondering that because for the past 2 years, I know and I see the writing on the wall that He wanted me to see. I don't wonder about any of that anymore and I know whatever happens, He's in charge and it's the same with this feeling I have had (and so many others) about what's coming in the very near future. I feel it and I know it's just there, no questions asked. I can't wait till we are raptured and I too pray everyday that the Lord Jesus comes soon. I also pray for God and how sad He must be that this world has had to go this route. I pray for God's broken heart, crying my eyes out just thinking about Him crying and the sadness He must feel about what lies ahead. Anyway, that's my two-cents worth!!!

I'm just feeling very emotional about all this today. I haven't given it much thought lately and all of a sudden when I read that quote I just saw red! I was just so angry! And then I wanted to cry and maybe I should have and then I wouldn't feel like I want to just throw up now.

You're right - the radical homsexual agenda's stance is most hypocritical. First they wanted "tolerance". Now they're demanding acceptance. Step by step, they keep pushing and pushing until one day, the situation in Canada will be here: preachers won't be able to speak out against homosexuality in their own churches for fear of being jailed for hate speech. The radical agenda infiltrates the legal system and uses it to their own agenda and advantage.

Interestingly enough, I was listening to talk radio show a few weeks ago discuss same-sex marriage being legalized in California (for the time being) - and a gay man called in and (surprisingly) was very against the idea. His words were "they have parades calling for tolerance - because we're different. But then they want to be the same as heterosexuals by demanding marriage be allowed for same-sex couples. So they want to be recognized as different - yet be the same. You can't have it both ways."

Also for us to have our intelligence plain insulted by our elected officials by telling us that our oil is worthless to the problem and we should not get it for it might harm some dumb animal is just asinine.

How can you say we are doomed if we keep using oil, but believe/trust in God? Does he not provide for all your/our needs, does he not hold the world in his hands? Did he not put the oil in the ground in the first place? Oil has been used for a very long time in human history. Oil was used for lighting, and energy in most of recorded history. So why are we right now saying oil is evil and we need to stop using it for the good of the planet? It's all a whisper from the Devil to stop us from receiving a gift from God and move us farther from him.

If I ran across unisex restrooms in this country, I'd be loathe to enter them. I'd want family members of either sex to have an escort or two and I'd want one myself. I'm a married male who has attempted to never be alone with a female other than my wife to avoid any appearance of impropriety and to avoid false accusations. I could imagine walking into a restroom where there was a female and no one else and then being arrested as I exited due to a false accusation. We live in a very sick world and no honest person or Christ follower is immune from attack.

My husband framed our marriage license when we recieved it in the mail, I was very touched because he did that. It is still in the same frame, and always will be. After I heard the news about legalized gay marriage, I just happened to look at my marriage license and my heart sank, it was as though it was stripped of it's value. We live in the area too. My husband has worked at Disney (he does construction) and we know other christians who also worked there. All couldn't take it! There ARE many many gay/lesbians working there!

Disney's Gay Days has been going on for years now. This is not some new thing. All of Orlando celebrates as well! Orlando is decorated for Gay Days (which is already going on right now. It's not just one day!). There are rainbow flags flying throughout the streets! Orlando also has their GAY PARADE march with floats and all through Orlando!

As far as "touchy feely" goes, this is what gets me! Even when our kids were younger and we'd take them to Disney, there would always be gays there and they'd be VERY openly touchy feely. They are always that way!! IT TOTALLY ANGERS ME! Try explaining to a 4 year old why 2 men are kissing and touching each others bottoms right in front of your family of 4 small children as you're waiting in line to get on a ride.

Straight people are not touchy feely like that. Straight people are not congregating in public parks and public restrooms to commit disgusting acts either. There is a spirit that controls these people and I'm convinced of that.

DISNEY DISGUSTS ME and we haven't been there since Gay Days began. I'll NEVER go there again!

Walt maybe wouldn't approve of this stuff, but he did have some issues as well. He belonged to the Masonic lodge. And WHY does everything focus on witches, dragons, magic, fairies, voodoo, etc... dark mystical things which are sooo far from God's Holy Word.

So children can "develope a good imagination" I'm told. Which also goes totally against God's Word, which warns us to take complete control of our thoughts.

Just a word of warning - I successfully discipled my family into understanding the times we're in...too well, perhaps.

My view is that the rapture will happen in the very near future. My 17 year old son had been a brilliant student in elementary and middle school, however, I convinced him of my rapture understanding. Suddenly, his grades plummeted. He lost all interest in doing his school work. Basically, his attitude is...why bother. I've been working for months to correct his understanding, but to no avail.

Many of you heard about and/or prayed for the victims of the recent massive tornado that hit Windsor, Colorado and surrounding farmland. For that, I personally want to thank you--although we live far enough from it not to have been hit by it, we have friends there.

That said, I'd like you to hear a short story told at church on Sunday. A lady said her daughter was at a public restroom (not sure if it was a gas station or restaurant) and there was a lady in there that seemed a little distraught. The daughter went about her business, but thought that lady was acting a little strange. As the daughter was washing her hands and getting ready to leave the restroom, the lady suddenly blurted out, "Are you a Christian?" The daughter replied, "Yes I am!" The lady sighed loudly and said, "How do I become one?!?!" I'm not sure if she lost her home or went through the tornado, but it scared her bad enough to search out someone that could lead her to Christ. Right there in that bathroom, she accepted Jesus as her Savior!

Yes REbecca --some of us were called to be watchmen--I was called and woke up to this in 2005 when God took me to Israel unexpectedly.
Its a frustrating job and a lot will not listen. We are fighting doctrines of demons too ie. emergent church dogma.

Its strange as i notice the church is being pulled into two camps: laodicea and Philadelphia . Those witha passion for scripture and a love for Christ are also more and more being called to lov eht Jews and serve them. I have even woken up to casting off Christian-pagan holidays and going back to celebrate the LORD's Feasts that pointed to and are completed in Jesus Christ. Easter was separated from passover because of growing anti semitism in the church but we should celebrate the feasts on the "proper" days as they are appointments made by God.

Ever since i was saved at the age of 7 I have run to my window on special mornings when the sun pours in and I have said to Jesus "Are You coming for me today?'' I hope He has remembered this childish faith and kept me for the day of the rapture like He did with Simeon in the Temple waiting for Messiah as he too was a watchman watching through faith in the Word.

Actually, we're getting to these restrooms because of the family restrooms. All this stuff gets past us one step at a time. They sell it to us in ways we will buy, and it always sounds good at first. But, c'mon, this agenda follows a pretty predictible set of steps towards setting our kids up.

When those family bathrooms popped up at a mall near all of us, some did warn that they were a stepping stone to this, because they helped to blur the line. Bathrooms should be confined to one sex. This is how we get trouble. Opposite sex people in the same restrooms.....what?.....oh, but it's for families.....how nice.? Well, no one was ever enforcing that! It's a free for all, under the ironice label of "family." How they must be howling with evil glee.

Kids love new things so they go in those so-called family bathrooms while shopping with friends at the mall.....teen girls can go in there and so can boys.....anyone can be in there.....it isn't just daddies changing diapers or helping little girls use the restroom. No one stops lone male predators from entering that bathroom, either. Welcome to the jungle. Now they can just take away the "family" pretense and say both it's a "multi" gender restroom. How sad that we have more than two genders, huh?

Another thought ... the people of Iraq, are HAPPY Sadaam Insane is gone. They appreciate what we did - the majority of them. They have experienced their own religion turned against them through Sadaam Insane. I think they maybe very receptive to a kinder, gentler and more human religion that has love - not violence and hatred. We see these people very differently as well as what our priorities should be. It's okay. I'm not better than you ... we simply disagree on these issues.

I totally understand how you are feeling. I am a public school teacher and believe it or not, the most job satisfaction I have is when I can sneak in that I am a christian to them(the kids, middle school). There is very little self motivation/wanting to learn among many of them. I have applied for another position and hope to get it (Lord willing). Otherwise, I do not see how I am being effective...21 yrs of teaching! I do not think I make a difference with my students anymore.

I wouldn't feel safe if a man could come in there, and forget letting your daughters go to the restroom alone when you are sitting 20 feet away at a restaurant. I don't want to sound alarmist, but it's bad enough women can't let their little boys go into a men's room until they are as tall as them practically due to safety issues. I also can't imagine changing a babies diaper while some guy is at a urinal....dressed like a woman!

Recently, [my 15 year old son]had asked me to get him some books at the library to read and so I did. About a week later I was going back to the library to return some books of my own and he came out to the car with the books that I had checked out for him. I said "Why are you returning them? You couldn't have finished them in such a short time" He said "Mom, I don't have time to read these books. I'm so excited about the Bible and what I'm learning, I just want to read the scriptures." Yeah I use to think the hoopla over the Beatles was overblown and attributable to the 60's frame of mind. But when you look in-depth at Lennon, actually all of them, they really were a huge part of the downfall of society. Lennon was a complete and total self-absorbed creep and really did believe and intentionally made that statement of "we're more popular than Jesus". McCartney, although slightly less controversial has never demonstrated any concern for a greater cause (considering his influence and wealth), other than vegetarianism, the benefits of pot, and his own glorification. The Larry King interview he and Ringo did was the epitome of ego and justification of the smoke and mirror agenda they took part in.
