Americans from all walks of life seem to always find a way to join hands in the face of adversity. In fact, it’s one of the most beautiful aspects of the American spirit. But with every new national tragedy, it seems that unifying spirit is a little weaker than before.

On Sunday morning, tragedy struck our great country once again. A gunman opened fire in a place of worship killing at least 26 people and wounding 20 in Sutherland Springs, Texas. Even more heartbreaking, eight of the 26 victims were members of the same family. Yet somehow, as our country mourns the loss of innocent life, there’s a new wave of indignation directed at people who dare to pray for the victims.

That’s right. As well-intentioned Americans pray for their countrymen who were just gunned down while worshipping God, gun control advocates are bashing them for their expression of faith. Here are just a few examples from my Twitter feed:

It’s one thing to hold strong opinions about gun control. But it’s entirely different to direct anger towards people of faith after such a horrific tragedy. Just because you might not believe in prayer, doesn’t give you the right to publicly insult those who do.

In some ways, this outrage against prayer is emblematic of national trends. As America grows increasingly hostile to Christianity, inappropriate and insensitive rhetoric regarding expressions of faith has become more acceptable. It seems the same people who pride themselves on advocating religious and cultural “tolerance” are the least tolerant when it comes to American Christians.

Prayer has been a staple of the American experience since the founding of our nation. It’s why George Washington “fervently beseech[ed] the Almighty” in his farewell address. It’s why Abraham Lincoln constantly invoked the name of God in our nation’s darkest moments. It’s why every session of Congress still opens in prayer.

Prayer is a unifying force, especially in a country entrenched in political polarization. It’s a way of humbly admitting that as mere humans, we do not have all the answers. Prayer is an expression of hope that someday all of the world’s evils will come to an end.

No matter how great gun control advocates think their policies may be, you can’t legislate evil away. Certainly, it’s important that policymakers engage in productive dialogue about methods to help mitigate future violence. But the most perfect legislation (if one ever existed), still leaves our country in need of the Almighty.

As long as there is evil in this world, Americans should continue to exercise their right to pray for a brighter day. This is—no doubt—a troubling time for our nation. But it’s times like these that often bring forth the best that our nation has to offer. Slandering the faithful among us isn’t the path to a unified, peaceful America. We can do better.

The enemy is desperate to spread the spirit of immorality. It's time to start calling it what it is. That spirit isn't spreading fast enough for the enemy so he has grown men raping boys, a traumatic event, that could affect them for the rest of their lives, but Lord forbid. I pray God deals swiftly with those who rape children. Please agree with me as NO child should have to deal with that.

A Pennsylvania man who dressed as Mickey Mouse and Elmo for children’s parties is accused of sexually abusing five boys, officials said.

The Delaware County District Attorney’s Office announced the arrest of Michael Cripps, 43, of Colwyn, Pa. on Monday. Cripps, who was charged with sexually assaulting five male victims.

The allegations date back seven years.

Delaware County District Attorney Jack Whelan said authorities were concerned the allegations were the “tip of the iceberg.”

“Make no mistake, this is a very serious child predator,” Whelan said Monday at a news conference, FOX29 reported.

"He exploits these young boys. He sexually molests these young boys. He ruins these young boys lives," Whelan continued.

Cripps shouted "nope" when asked if he was guilty while he was led from the courthouse.

Whelan said Cripps ran a business, M.C. Parties, where he would dress as characters such as SpongeBob SquarePants. The district attorney said there was no evidence he met any of his victims through his business.

However, Whelan said Cripps targeted single or divorced women with young boys and volunteered to babysit. The alleged assaults took place at 14 addresses in East Lansdowne, Aldan, Lansdowne, Upper Darby, Colwyn and Darby, Philly.com reported. The arrest affidavit stated Cripps lived or resided at 13 addresses in Delaware County, Philadelphia and Chester Counties, from 1998 to 2012, Philly.com reported.

Whelan said the first sexual assault allegation made against Cripps was in 2012 but the office was not able to file charges due to a lack of evidence. Cripps was also being prosecuted by the Delaware County District Attorney’s Office for a string of robberies.

A child-abuse hotline alleged “four boys, ages 8 to 17, were compelled to sleep in the same bed with Cripps on numerous occasions,” Philly.com reported. Cripps would reportedly become furious if the boys tried to refuse or resist his advances.

On Sept. 18, a male between the ages of 18 and 25 told the district attorney’s office Cripps reportedly sexually assaulted him and his brothers who were ages 8 and 7 at the time, the arrest affidavit stated. Around the same time, detectives were also investigating another sexual assault claim made against Cripps involving a 5-year-old boy. On Oct. 24, detectives interviewed a 17-year-old boy who also accused Cripps of molesting him when he was younger.

Cripps was arrested twice, in 2003 and 2006, for sexual assault but the charges were removed.

Cripps was being held on $250,000 bail at the George W. Hill Correctional Facility and awaits preliminary hearings.
