WASHINGTON — In a blow to LGBTQ rights, the Supreme Court on Tuesday ruled that Colorado's ban on conversion therapy aimed at youths struggling with their sexual orientation or gender identity violates the free speech rights of a conservative Christian therapist.

The 8-1 decision in favor of therapist Kaley Chiles on her claim brought under the Constitution's First Amendment is likely to have national implications — more than 20 states have similar laws. It could also have an impact on other forms of medical treatment that involve speech.

n deciding the case, the court embraced Chiles’ argument that the Colorado law banning conversion therapy regulates speech, not conduct, as Colorado had argued. As such, the measure is not like other health care regulations that focus on conduct, the court concluded. The case, decided on the global Transgender Day of Visibility, will now return to the lower courts.

"I hope this win for free speech will fuel a greater pursuit of truth," Chiles told reporters after the ruling. "Because of today's ruling, families will have more options and states won't be able to shut those options down," she added.

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (WIS/WMBF) - A South Carolina man is facing a hate crime charge after allegedly firing a gun near an LGBTQ nightclub earlier this week.

WMBF reports 37-year-old Timothy James Truett, Jr., of Clover, was detained by the Myrtle Beach Police Department after the incident on Wednesday outside the Pulse Ultra Club.

He was later placed under arrest and charged with hate intimidation, possession of a weapon during a violent crime, discharging a firearm into a dwelling, discharging a firearm within the city and damaging property.

An MBPD spokesperson later confirmed Truett is the first arrest under the city’s hate intimidation law, which passed in 2024.[…]

MBPD said officers responded to the club at around 11 a.m. Wednesday, after reports of shots being fired on the 2700 block of South Kings Highway.

In an affidavit that was released later, the club’s owner said he found a window and the windshield of his SUV had been shattered by bullets when he went to leave the club. An SUV with blue plastic over a window was left at the scene.

[…]Police reviewed footage showing a silver-colored vehicle stopping in the middle of the road.

The footage then appeared to show muzzle flashes coming from the passenger-side window of the vehicle. The affidavit states an officer later pulled over a vehicle being driven by Truett and found spent shell casings in the back seat, as well as a gun.

Hate that we have the same label as trenders

I just saw a trender irl at the store. I will use she/her pronouns, since there where no signs of even trying to look like a man or masculine. Only thing was the somewhat short hair.

She just looked like a chubby butch lesbian. I know overweight people tend to have a larger chest but she wasn't even trying to hide it. And ofcourse, how else would it be, she had giant trans and pansexual pins on her backpack.

I just hate that those people call themself trans and therefore have the same label as we do. What I hate even more is that other people will look at those trenders and think all trans people are like this. It's pathetic.
