If every person in the world was a Muslim there would still be wars, terror and unrest because they would simply fight amongst themselves to try and enforce each others 'brand' of Islam upon each other as we see in many Islamic countries today.

Unlike Christianity, which has only one "brand", and of which, all the members are in perfect agreement and harmony. Right?
Right??
*Watches as evangelicals agree, only to have catholics and mormons ask why they aren't considered christians, followed by inevitable bloodshed*
It is true, it is true about ALL religions, except Buddhism, which isn't really a religion, but a way of life.
The reason this is fundy, is because for some reason christians like to do 30 seconds of studying on a religion (mostly on hate sites that oppose that religion), and the christians never begin to understand that religion, but like to think they do.
If the christians read the quran, they would see all the quotes that promote violence, promote violence in self-defense. The quran doesn't promote just starting a random war, which is way most muslims oppose terrorist organizations, whereas Leviticus and Dueterotomy of the bible do promote random death and wars.
Of course, most of you probably knew this.
I agree, this is a fine example of rampant irony, if not outright hypocrisy. Though the Pot and Kettle Award has been given to an even more deserving post, this one definitely deserves to be listed here.

Umm, this really isn't much of a fundy statement. While there has been violence in Christianity's past, and still is some today, its not nearly the same as with Islam.
In the early church, Christians were totally peaceful. It wasn't until the Roman persecutions ended and Constantine made it a legal religion that Christians began killing in the name of God, and it wasn't a constant thing and hasn't been.
Islam on the other hand was founded and grew through violence. And yes, I have studied Islam for more than 10 minutes and not from an extremist site, but through regular materials including the Koran.
While people argue the Bible has violence in it, that is true. Much in the Old Testament. But that violence is put into context with the coming of Christ in the New Testament where there is very little violence, other than what is being done to Christ and his followers.
The Koran on the other hand reads almost completely like the book of Joshua all the way through. Not to mention Islam degrades women.
Women in the west have the rights and freedom they do today largely because of Christianity. Read the book of Luke. Jesus elvevated women to new levels during his time, and the early church followed suit. It wasn't until later and the early Roman Catholic church that women began to lose rights again, but they now have more than ever. Compare that to Islamic nations where they must still be veiled and are just about considered their husbands personal property.
Like I said, I have read and studied up on this, even in the Koran. But I'm sure I'll get blasted and name-called, so go ahead :)
roadrunner570, I doubt anyone is going to blast you for your opinion.
The reason this statement so ironic for us unbelievers is because we see the inevitable outcome of the Christian perspective, as portrayed by this site. The squabbling amongst different sects of "True" Christianity justs reinforces our belief that this statement is equally valid for Christianity.
Have a Merry Christmas, RR!
OC..thank you! And Merry Christmas to you too!
I'm a member of that site as well, and have gotten into some heated debates. Usually though its not over "true" christianity, but over lesser issues. The majority of us there agree on the basic tenets of our faith, but on some more non-essential issues is where the debates come in. I usually stay out of doctrinal debates. The ones that bother me is when it comes to people, since I believe with all my heart Jesus taught us to reach out and to care for any one and everyone. Sadly, many Christians don't see it this way.
Roadrunner, I don't recall you ever getting insulted for any of your comments. There is something different about the way you post and it shows. Keep trying, you may yet rub off on some of your peers.
Merry Christmas, roadrunner.
Yeah, like the Catholics and Protestants did back in the day.
It would be a strange thing, however, to see an atheist and an agnostic duking it out...
"There is a chance, we might not have the technology to detect God, although maybe we do!"
"We do, and he's not there!"
"YOU MIGHT BE RIGHT BUT I'M NOT SURE!"
Farnsworth: "You people and your slight differences disgust me!"
If every person in the word was a Christian, there would still be wars, terror, and unrest because they would simply fight amongst themselves to try and enforce each other's "brand" of Christianity upon each other as we see in many Christian countries today.
Exactly like Christians are doing, fighting over which kind is the True Christians, and who are just devil-worshippers.
Hey, I've got a crazy idea; how about letting each person have his or her own kind of belief, and letting that belief be a personal, private matter.
Then we could go on to more important matters, like the education of our young, or the care of our less fortunate brothers and sisters.
We are all humans, and we should all treat each other with benevolence and respect.
Alright then, skippy. So if everyone were Christian, what denomination would they be?
Because, if you think Christians of differing philosophies won't kill the fuck out of each other, I'd like to introduce you to my good friend, Northern Ireland.
@roadrunner
In addition to the troubles in Northern Ireland, mentioned repeatedly, the recent violence in Yugoslavia was inspired by conflict between Orthodox and Catholic Christians. For that matter, there have been innumerable non-religious wars between Christian nations (and Muslim, Hindu, etc nations of course), which leads me to suspect that even if everyone got to being the same flavor of Christian(or Muslim, atheist, what have you), there'd still be wars, terror and unrest for political and economic reasons
this pretty much sums up a fundie mindset, they expect everyone on the planet needs to be exactly the same, and cannot fathom that other groups don't think that way as well so you get arguments of "well if every person in the world was (insert religion, political bias, sexual orientation, ect here)....."
Yeah, that's a given.
You Christians really gotta start realizing what you are before you lip off about others. Christian countries have warred with each other for all known history and commited war on all other religions.
You have no high ground here
Confused?
