If you jumped over someone’s fence, ran across their lawn, entered their house through an unlocked front door, then went into a number of rooms before being apprehended, you would probably face a charge of unlawful entry and get around 30 hours of community service. This is because it wouldn't be considered a serious crime.

Recently, a 42 year-old Texan named Omar Gonzalez, jumped a fence, ran across a lawn, entered a house through an unlocked door, and then went into a number of rooms before being apprehended. He faces up to 16 years in prison. The house into which he made unlawful entry was The White House.

The reason for the difference between the two punishments, is the party against whom the crime was committed. One was against a mere citizen, the other was against the office of the President of the United States. You can catch a glimpse of the importance of the President’s position by the punishment imposed.

All sin is against God. That’s why it results in death and damnation.

It depends on the circumstances. If someone were fleeing from a mad axman, then jumping over someone's fence, running across their lawn and entering through an unlocked front door would be seen as entirely justifiable and attract no penalty. Running through the White House, armed, looking for the President of the United States is somewhat different. People who hold that office are somewhat vulnerable to attack; the last president who did not suffer an assassination attempt was LBJ and the one before that was Calvin Coolidge. Furthermore, trying to attack the President of the United States is as much an attack on the United States as it is on the president and, as you might have noticed, Ray, powerful states don't take kindly to being attacked.

If you want to categorize it as sin, then it becomes God's place, not the state's, to punish. But whether justice belongs to God or the state, you don't get to decide.

According to people like Ray, ALL human beings are born as sinners, and mankind is an inherently sinful creature. Supposedly, that's why we "need" God, because we cannot rule ourselves. It's all bullshit, and flat out ignores humanity's (albeit limited) capacity for compassion and altruism.

As for the trial: Gawd's a dictator. There is no trial. And since he's supposedly omniscient, he could actually predict what crimes you are destined to commit, before you're even born. I have yet to hear a single argument by fundies that addresses this or the fact that it completely rules out free will.

Beaumont police cite man dressed as banana carrying AK-47

BEAUMONT - Beaumont police were called to Eastex Freeway near Highway 105 Saturday morning by people complaining about a man dressed as a banana holding an AK-47.

Derek Poe, owner of Golden Triangle Tactical, told 12News Saturday that it was part of the store's grand opening after moving locations from Parkdale Mall.

Poe said the man in the banana suit was holding an AK-47 across his back with the barrel pointing down and holding a sign with an arrow pointing toward the store. He said this idea was to attract customers to the store.

A Beaumont police spokesperson said officers temporarily detained the 18-year-old and found he had the rifle with a drum magazine attached with at least a 50-round capacity. The spokesperson said the teen was cited for violating a city ordinance that prohibits soliciting in and alongside roadways.

Sgt. Rob Flores said police also gathered the necessary information on the weapon and completed paperwork for consultation with the Jefferson County District Attorney's Office concerning possible future criminal charges related to his display of the firearm.

In December, Poe was stopped by police inside Parkdale Mall for carrying an assault rifle along his back. He was on his way to his store which was inside Parkdale Mall at the time.

His gun was seized and he was later charged with disorderly conduct after police say witnesses claimed they were scared for their lives.

Poe claims he was exercising his second amendment right to open carry.

Parkdale Mall then placed signs along each parking lot entrance reminding customers of its policy on guns which states concealed handguns are prohibited.

Poe then moved his business from Parkdale Mall to another location on Eastex Freeway.

What if the only evidence that the fence, the lawn, the house, the front door, or any of the rooms ever existed was a 2000-year-old book of ancient mythology?

The earliest written 40 years after the "fact", next ones oh, maybe a couple hundred years or so, none corroborating one another, none with any actual witnesses - and nobody knows who even wrote the myths.
Sounds good to me, I'd buy it.

The reason is that the White House is supposed to be a secure location, given what goes on there.

The poor guy who gets the axe for leaving the door opened will wish he only got 16 years. Try and get a job at 7-11 after that. Not holding the keys, by Jupiter.

Even the Secret Servicemen in & around the White House would most probably at least taser said Texan Mr. Gonzalez, if not shoot him in the leg(s) to ensure he wouldn't have gotten any further. Followed by paramedics being at the scene in minutes & him sent to hospital, then arrest by police. Fortunately, even said Secret Servicemen showed far greater restraint in this case.
