Why is it so implausible for someone to like both genders?

For centuries, the majority of people believed that no one actually likes having same-sex intercourse; the only thing enjoyable about it is transgressive glee. This attitude hasn't completely died off. That's part of it.

I don't know who came up with the idea, but please do not do that. Finding someone generally attractive is not the same as finding someone sexually attractive. Everyone probably has the potential to be "a little bit bi", but that doesn't mean it will ever be true, even if they're open-minded about the possibility, any more than the potential to develop, say, diabetes, will necessarily develop it someday. Hell, there are people who do things which they won't ever really enjoy just for the experience of it, so even "experimenting once in college" isn't evidence of anything.

It's true that the world would be better if people in general had fewer hangups about sexuality, but suggesting that straight (or gay) people are probably really a little bi is offensive, an attack on people's personal identities, and probably not true. It's sort of the "lying for Jesus" of sexualities.

Note: I say all this as a bi person myself (Kinsey 2).

The general public defines "bisexual" as "attracted to both men and women".

Most people who identify as bisexual consider that to be too gender-binary but retain the label simply because it's well-known and easy to understand... at least among people who don't deny its existence. However, some of them try to define it as an alternate binary: "people who share my gender and people who don't." However, the general public is largely ignorant or dismissive of that alternate take.

As far as I've seen, there are two basic types of people who identify as pansexual. The first considers the term "bisexual" as being too gender binary, just like most bisexuals, but instead of redefining it to match their reality better, they choose a different term. The other type defines their attraction as "personalities, not genders or bodies" or something similar.

Adding to the confusion are the occasional bisexual who is *only* into cisgender men and women. These are occasionally referred to (by bisexuals) as ambisexuals, though that term is also used to describe Kinsey 3s. Though in the eyes of the general public which is familar with both bi and pan, as well as most pansexuals, the majority of bisexuals are like this (note: not actually true) and the occasional others should be calling themselves pansexual. Meanwhile bisexuals often think that there's no meaningful distinction between bi and pan, and pansexuals are creating one so they can feel all superior and such.

It's a confusing mess sometimes - conflicting identity politics, and no clear dividing lines.

At least the username shows us that this is just a dork and not something that legitimately should be posted, here.

I do occasionally like to go to KiwiFarms to see them skewer Chris-Chan and other weirdos but I do hate that they're a bunch of kink-shaming transphobes who think everything is "autistic".

KiwiFarms is weird since they seem to come off wingnutty at times and yet they'll gladly skewer NeoNazis and Frummers as well.

....I guess it's like 4chan....Famous for Wingnuts and Fascists yet is technically for everyone of any political persuasion.

I have a weird opinion of Chris-Chan, a weird mix of bemusement, pity, revulsion, concern, sorrow, laughter, etc.
* Chris is terrible person.
* Chris is also very disabled and was raised poorly.
* Chris' antics can be hilarious.
* But Chris was still being cruelly cyber-bullied.
* I do commend Chris for ditching homophobia and general wingnuttery (or at least trying).
* Part of me does wish for Chris to get better or at least not end up on the street when his mom dies.
....Pre-Tomgirl Chris was more silly and interesting (even if he was more bigoted) he was basically a big goofy guy with a bad haircut who dressed like a giant schoolboy and came across as a weird Alt-Universe Gomer Pyle (from Andy Griffith) or something. His whole life and those sagas come off as a weird cartoon show plot and one almost forgets that it's a real disabled person getting cyber-bullied....but some of the stuff that happens is so silly and ridiculous that one can't help but chuckle.

I can't even figure out if Chris is a genuine transsexual or not. I suspect Chris is more of a "Man who wants to be a woman" rather than a "Woman in a man's body".

I think society should ditch labels like "Homosexual, Bisexual, etc." and go with Andosexual, Gynosexual, Ambisexual, etc....
