Proposition 8 is not discrimination.
Just like Jim Crow laws, poll taxes, segregation, and "Irish need not apply" were not discrimination, right?
It is a way to keep marriage holy and sacred the way God intended
Then you freely admit that Prop. 6 violates the 1st ammendment? Way to shore up you're case genius.
Have you seen a “gay” restroom? A “gay” water fountain? A “gay” waiting room?
No I haven't, but those things couldn't be enforced either, it's not like you can tell someone is gay by sight. And when you pass laws to take certain rights away from a certain segment of the population then that is the very definition of discrimination, case closed.
Have you even heard of a “gay” person being lynched in the news recently?
In fact, yes I have. I also had a close friend put into the hospital recently because a bunch of redneck asshole not unlike yourself decided to beat the shit out of her in a parking lot because they thought she was gay. The fact that she was not gay didn't stop them, In their eyes she must have been gay because she turned one of them down repeatedly when he would try to "feel her up" and "make her his girlfriend" (With all the horrid connotation that implies). So since she wasn't so taken with his manliness that she just dropped to the floor and offered herself to him then she must be gay and therefore deserves to have the shit beat out of her with a tow chain. Does that qualify, you ignorant fuck? or are you going to tell me that she was "asking for it".
No, because those things that I named are true issues of discrimination.
They are aspects of discrimination, but by no means do they comprimise the entirety of acts of discrimination. most of your examples would only apply if a person was noticeably different from the majority of the population, which leaves out sexual discrimination, ideological discrimination, and your favorite, religious discrimination.
Homosexuality is not a race, gender, religion issue. It's about choice and behavior
Religion is about choice, yes. But most evidence points to sexual orientation being genetic. You cannot choose to be attracted to one sex or the other, either you are or you are not.
Everyone has encountered discrimination, because of the way they are shaped, the way they talk or even the color of their skin
So that makes it right?
Homosexuals were not born that way. They choose to like the same sex.
Bullshit. When did you "choose" to be heterosexual? Try this out, just for one minute you "choose" to be attracted to members of the same sex as yourself. Are you attracted to them now? No you're not. Sexual attraction isn't subject to a concious "choice", you can no more make yourself attracted to someone who you do not find attractive to anymore than you can make yourself unattracted to someone you do find attractive.
God has a plan for all of us
So you say... So says every religion. What makes yours any more valid that the others? What makes any of them valid? .... Here's a hint... nothing.
and we should not hinder or look away from that plan
And where can one find this "plan", or even it's bullet points, or breakdown?
He wants the best for us
No, you say he wants whatever will make you feel superior, righteous, and justified. Moreover, are you claiming that you now speak for your "god"?
Proposition 8 is God's will
Funny, I see no mention of prop * in that book you claim to be your "god's" word. I see your god making no proclimations in support of prop 8. So once again I ask, Are you claiming that you now speak for your "god"?
He is the father,
He isn't my father. My father died when I was four years old, and I will accept no substitutes.
and every father has rules.
And that has fuck all to do with the subject at hand.
Fathers make rules because they love their children
I some cases. yes. But other times rules are just a way of making one feel as if they have control and power over another human life, in which case it's a bad thing.
And children should obey the rules their fathers have given them.
You can make this arguement till the end of the world and it will not change the fact that america is not a theocracy, and regardless of your religious beliefs it is not your place to force you views on morality, or for that matter, anything else onto the portion of the population who do not share those beliefs. Your religious view do not give you the right to control what other think, feel, of do. period.
