Your immediate reaction may be: separate seating for men and women is a sure sign of discrimination. That's what my wife and I thought before we became Baal Teshuvas and I'd like to share a different perspective with you.

First off, a quick back story. I walked into a Conservative Shul to say Kaddish for my father's yertzeit and the couple in the row in front of me had an insanely attractive teenage daughter that clearly didn't want to be in Shul. She was texting her friends and was wearing what I can only describe as a micro mini-skirt and a deep W neck sweater. My ability to pray was zero.

Am I a scumbag for being distracted by the girl?
