*On an article about complaints that fantasy movies are "too white"*
Bloody inappropriate. Fairy tales are a Nordic tradition, I’ll be damned if the fairy tales I read to children are tainted with negro blood.
I’m less resistant, however, if a black person plays:
The Big Bad Wolf
The Evil Queen (Snow White)
The Cannibalistic Witch (Hansel & Gretel)
Dame Gothel
You get what I mean.

Maybe we should just stick to the actual Nordic fairy tales, where most, if not everyone, dies a horrible brutal death. Oh, wait, that's a fucking terrible idea. We'll tell whatever stories we like the best, regardless of origin.
"Fairy tales are a Nordic tradition."
Uh. No. Even many of the European fairytales you read your kids aren't "Nordic" - they stem from other parts of Europe, too.
And then, fairy tales come from all over the world - see The 1001 Nights, the Pachatantra, Aesop's stories, and the countless others that from various parts of Asia, Africa, the Americas, etc. but definitely by all rights qualify as fairy tales.
Most fairy tales of European origin are French. Even those collected by the Grimm Bros. contain many that originated from France. The most notable original 'Nordic' writer in Anderson. And you could probably count the hundreds of Roman and Greek stories as fairy tales.
I will concede though that most of them contained villains based on the popular perception of Jews at the time. Since they're open to interpretation though, we luckily don't draw those comparisons anymore.
Seriously?
The evil queen from Snow White?
Who's obsessed with being the "fairest"(i.e. whitest)?
That's who you'd cast as black?
You're going to have sooooooooo much fun at the new Annie film, sir. also, fairytales are NOT confined to Nordic lands:
Anasi the Spider
Rabbit of Inaba
The Ramayana
Coyote's legends
1001 Arabian nights
Fa Mulan
the Legend of Degei
Curupira
just to name a few
“Bloody inappropriate. Fairy tales are a Nordic tradition,”
They said fantasy, not fairy tales. So, Lord of the Rings qualifies, which has black people in the South.
harry Dresden, the wizard, whose godmother is a fairy, and whose parole officer is black.
Star Trek qualifies, depending on your exact definition of fantasy, and i have had a crush on Uhura for almost 60 years.
Star Wars, black characters here and there.
“I’ll be damned if the fairy tales I read to children are tainted with negro blood.”
Nah, man, they use ink. Not blood. Almost exclusively.
“I’m less resistant, however, if a black person plays:”
The villain. Just say the villain.
“The Cannibalistic Witch (Hansel & Gretel)”
You’d cry that the creeping wokeism turned a perfectly good evil villain into a black women for NO REASON.
Hey, though, did you ever see the 3 Musketeers?
How would you feel about a black musketeer?
Did you know that Dumas knew one?
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
