Yeah, let me clear up the confusion for you Andy:
When you hear about how football is beloved all over the world, they don’t mean the mutant rugby handegg game we Americans play.
They mean the game we call soccer, which is derived from the term “Association football”.

There were teams representing 24 countries in the women's World Cup, including ones from the US and China, 2 of the 3 most populous countries in the world. I'm not gonna do the math right now, but I bet those countries would make up a pretty healthy chunk of the world's population. And of course those aren't the only countries with teams.
When the women's team in the US win the World Cup so many times you know you've got problems, Andy Schaftafly.

I'm sorry, you're saying THE most widely played sport on the planet is not enjoyed by very many people? The sport that is almost a religion to South America? The sport that doesn't need half-time shows and stretch breaks to keep people awake for the whole match in contrast to American favourites?

Edit: You know what? If Andy wants to toss race into his stupidity I've got one more thing to stoop to his level to add. Football and other sporting events are the number one source of riots mostly comprised of white people. Systematic oppression? Social unrest? Government tyranny? Police driving tanks down the street and sending five-man teams with assault rifles to randomly stop, frisk, beat, and detain people without legitimate cause as retaliation for complaints about the complete lack of accountability in the wake of continuous charges of police misconduct and seemingly unjustifiable shootings? Nope, it's when the ref makes a "wrong" call or when your team loses or even when they win that's when us white people burn our cities half to the ground. That this happens on a yearly basis compared to the long buildup of the same eternally and contemptuously dismissed problems being endlessly endured before a flashpoint incident ignites between the riots black people are vilified for kind of gets glossed over in the media.
I personally find soccer to be one of the most boring sports in existence and hate the quasi-religious worship of it (and also ESPECIALLY FIFA and their corrupt goons) with a passion, but even I would not deny that it is one of the most beloved sports worldwide (it is part of the problem after all). Andy really seems to live in his little US bubble.
