"The American Indian has done much better than most losing sides in armed conflict. They were given land and semi-autonomy, instead of being herded off of cliffs en masse, until they were nothing but a distant memory.
For an invading army, we did rather well by them as a whole. Much better than I would expect."

As a member of the Cherokee Nation, I say FUCK YOU, you white, elitist, eurotrash piece of fucking dogshit!
The American Indians already had land (and more of it) and full autonomy before we arrived. The fact that we didn't kill ALL of them is hardly something that we should pat ourselves on the back for.
Oh, and we were not an "invading army", because we were not participating in a war! We were settlers who decided to occasionally kill the natives, despite having treaties with them.
Someday, you might want to crack open a book on the history of the European Colonisation of the American continent. The europeans entering this continent killed more than 92% of the native americans, via disease, slaughter, and the introduction of alcohol.
Not fundie but ignorant and arrogant. Why don't we put you, Bill, on a reservation in the middle of nowhere and see how you survive on barren, uninhabitable land. I'm sure you'd find yourself much better off than before.
Yes, we didn't kill all of them off, like the Israelites did when they invaded the "promised land." That's something, I suppose.
I'm not sure it's something I enjoyed being compared to.
"They were given land and semi-autonomy,"
But they already had land and full autonomy, so how could they be given less of what they already had?
This is more racist than fundie, but hey...
Do the words broken treaties,"Trail of Tears", smallpox, slavery, rape, scalping mean nothing to you?
Then we shunt them off to the worst land and you think that's dandy.
By the way, I think the hate the term indian.
I think they prefer iroquois, cherokee, illinois, manhattan, etc.
Let us not forget the uranium mines or breaking up families in order to separate the Native American children from their heritage.
Does the word "Conquistador" ring any bells, you racist, ignorant, neocolonialist jackalope?
Wait ... is this guy saying that in MOST WARS, the entire population on the losing side is herded together and driven off cliffs?
Somebody tell this guy that most wars are NOT fought like those in the Book of Joshua.
Given Land? Whose land was it to start with?
And the smallpox blankets?
Broken Knee?
Trail of Tears?
You are either a fool or a hypocrite if you truly believe what you say.
Yes, I believe you took all our land and then gave us back the crap land you didn't want, after forcing your last names, clothing and religion on us, and make us go to school to learn English, and beat us until we forgot our native language and was unable to converse with our families when we came home. Which is exactly what happened to my grandfather. Thanks a bunch.
So the point he's trying to make is, "Hey, at least we didn't wipe them out outright, so that makes it all cool"?
You fucking moron.
I don't think you can really blame the settlers for most of the disease deaths. Up until the mid-1800s people had no idea how diseases were spread.
Syphilis was a new world disease that got carried back to Europe and caused quite a few deaths there.
Doesn't excuse slaughtering them, taking their land or trying to exterminate their culture, though.
I read an account of the Indian Wars by a journalist who accompanied the Cavalry. After slaughtering an Indian tribe, the officers and enlisted butchered the women and hung ‘the private parts of women’ on their saddles as trophies.
I’m not even partially Native American, but holy FUCK that’s offensive shit, just speaking as a human. So, yeah, fuck you and the fiction you rode in on.
Confused?
So were we! You can find all of this, and more, on Fundies Say the Darndest Things!
