Rick Wiles #fundie rightwingwatch.org

End Times radio host Rick Wiles yesterday sounded off on a recently-released photo of a 7-year-old Queen Elizabeth “mimicking her uncle, the future king Edward VIII,” in making the Nazi salute. The “Trunews” host cited the 1933 photo as proof that “the Nazis are in control of the West right now, the United States of America has been taken over by neo-Nazis.”

And who are our Nazi overlords?

“The left, the homosexual rights movement, the abortionists, these are Nazis, they’re Nazis,” he said.

Wiles, who once claimed that Adolf Hitler attempted “to create a race of super gay male soldiers,” also alleged that “the Nazi party of Germany was a militant homosexual movement, we have a resurgence of Nazism.”

Responding to the Chattanooga shooting, Wiles alleged that “millions of Americans will die in one day in this country” after Muslim-Americans, whom he claims only seek “to slaughter the people who do not convert to Islam,” take up arms en masse against non-Muslims in a violent “day of jihad.”

Pam Geller and Andrew Bostom #fundie rightwingwatch.org

The right-wing outlet WorldNetDaily is under the impression that Seattle, Washington, is now a Sharia law zone.

WND’s article, which includes the warning, “United Nations floods Seattle area with refugees,” skewers the city’s growing Muslim community and a recent proposal from a mayoral committee to aid Muslim homebuyers who believe their religion proscribes paying interest on loans.

As Adam Serwer pointed out during a similar controversy in Minnesota, many U.S. banks are already beginning to offer such plans where the “companies structure the payments in a sort of house-buying layaway plan.”

WND interviews anti-Muslim activists Andrew Bostom and Pamela Geller, who allege that such programs would lead to a broader implementation of Sharia law.

“Such dangerously misguided efforts kowtow to, and abet, Islamic supremacism,” said Dr. Andrew Bostom, author of “Legacy of Jihad: Islamic Holy War and the Fate of Non-Muslims” and several other books about the history of Islam.

“Shariah-compliant mortgages, and all aspects of so-called Shariah-compliant finance, should be rejected because they are vehicles for the promulgation of Islamic law, an integrated religio-political system antithetical to our most fundamental Western freedoms,” Bostom said.

Mayor opening the door to Shariah

Pamela Geller, author of “Stop the Islamization of America,” also said most Americans are not aware that Shariah applies to all of life. She said the mayor of Seattle, like other mayors who kowtow to Shariah, are doing long-term damage to their cities and their country.

“Shariah is a unified whole – a guide to every aspect of human behavior. It doesn’t just involve interest and loans,” Geller said. “The teachings of Islam regarding war against and subjugation of unbelievers is part of Shariah as well. The mayor of Seattle is opening the door to Shariah, and because he has already shown himself to be compliant, he will receive more demands for accommodation of Shariah in the future.

“This is a radical, intolerant, violent, misogynistic, antisemitic ideology, and he should not be kowtowing to it.”

Now you can take off your aluminum hats, and we'll put aside our conspiracy moment on the Savage Nation and go back to the regular hooey that we specialize here, specialize in at the Savage Nation. We give you hooey all day long, and I'm proud of the fact that we give you hooey, because if it's the opposite of what Obama says, then hooey must be the truth.

Michael Savage #fundie rightwingwatch.org

Conservative talk show host Michael Savage reacted to the shooting of military service members in Chattanooga last week by railing against the media and the government for supposedly trying to cover up any mention of the shooter’s religion.

Savage said on his program Friday that Americans will be driven to civil war if the media try to portray terrorist attacks as anything other than Islamic terrorism, a war he thinks is needed to save the country.

“I don’t know what it’s going to take for this country to change — I do know what it’s going to take, it’s going to take the big one. It’s going to take the big one and mark my words if, God forbid, the big one comes, like the dirty bomb or something horrible like that, you’re going to wait and see what the media says, ‘We provoked it, we shouldn’t have been in Afghanistan, we’re not sensitive to Muslims, what did we do to offend them, we have to reach out,’ that’s the end of the road, there’ll be a civil war,” Savage said. “And by the way, it’ll be overdue. That’s the only thing that could save us.”

He added that while he hopes there isn’t a war, America’s enemies have already “infiltrated” the government, which is now pushing the people to the breaking point since it is “at war with us by enabling the enemies of our very survival.”

Tony Perkins #fundie rightwingwatch.org

Tony Perkins, president of the Family Research Council, suggested during a conversation with Gov. Scott Walker on his “Washington Watch” radio program last week that Planned Parenthood opposes 20-week abortion bans such as the one recently passed by the House because they can make more money selling the “parts” of later-term fetuses.

Perkins was discussing a right-wing group’s deceptively edited shock video that purported to show that the reproductive health group sells “aborted baby parts” for a profit, in violation of federal law. In reality, the group donates fetal tissue to medical research with the patient’s consent.

“This suggests why they may have been opposed to bans such as this, these five-month bans, because the longer the pregnancy goes, the more valuable the parts,” Perkins alleged.

Walker, who signed such a ban into law in Wisconsin today, didn’t address Perkins’ claim directly, but restated his desire to make sure that “Planned Parenthood is defunded from any tax dollars, be it at the local or state or the federal level.”

Alex Jones #conspiracy rightwingwatch.org

Alex Jones’s InfoWars network posted a video clip today of Jones discussing same-sex marriage, which Jones said he rarely talks about because he considers it a “distraction.”

However, Jones said that he is worried about the attempt to “sexualize children” with books like “Heather Has Two Mommies.” This effort to “target children,” Jones said, represents the “space-cult, suicide-cult, exterminism, craziness” of the United Nations and global elites.

“The eugenics, trans-humanist cult wants to confuse the general species ahead of rendering us down and removing us,” he said. “The plan is an asexual humanoid, even if they decide to keep us around, stated in hundreds of textbooks.”

Michael Savage #fundie rightwingwatch.org

Right-wing radio host Michael Savage yesterday blasted Oregon for a recent change in its Medicaid policy to allow coverage for transgender people who have reached the age of medical consent.

Savage, who has frequently railed against transgender individuals like Caitlyn Jenner (and apparently President Obama), said that the move was part of a broader left-wing effort to “eliminate” men.

“I bet more boys will become girls than vice versa and eventually we could become a whole country of girls and then girls will finally get equal pay,” Savage said. “That could be the whole reason behind it. It’s a ‘compassionate’ thing that the maniacs in Oregon are doing, because if they can eliminate males and the nation is all girls in let’s say 50 years, than everything will be perfect, won’t it? Because as you all know, women are better than men, minorities are better than whites. Isn’t that the liberal mantra? All minorities are better than whites. All girls are better than men.”

Ann Coulter #racist rightwingwatch.org

Ann Coulter, author of “Adios, America!,” appeared on the “Joyce Kaufman Show” on Monday to offer her advice to the current Republican presidential candidates to “drive up the white vote” rather than trying to expand their base.

Kaufman, a fellow far-right, anti-immigrant pundit, voiced her fear that Texas is “holding on by a thread.”

“I wrote about that in the book,” Coulter responded. The reason “why Texas is different than California,” she said, is that white voters in Texas “voted 80 percent for Mitt Romney,” while whites in California “split their vote.”

Because Latino voters in Texas and California compromise the “exact same percentage” of the population and both “block vote for the Democrats,” it is the unity of white Texans that makes the difference, Coulter said.

“That’s what Republicans gotta learn. Drive up the white vote; that’s your base,” she concluded.

Pat Robertson #fundie rightwingwatch.org

Pat Robertson saw the silver lining in the violent atrocities perpetrated by the so-called Islamic State, telling “700 Club” viewers today that “maybe the best thing that ever happened to the world is for these crazies in ISIS to keep on beheading people and doing some of these extreme things.”

His remarks followed a Christian Broadcasting Network report about accounts of ISIS members leaving the terrorist group and converting to Christianity.

Robertson, who last year revealed his excitement that the terrorist group is bringing about the Last Days, explained that once more Muslims and others realize that ISIS is the true face of Islam, they will leave the religion.

Sherrif David Clarke #fundie rightwingwatch.org

“After a big decision like this, people scream and holler, ‘This is bad for the country,’ and then we just acquiesce,” Clarke said. “I believe one of these decisions might just be a catalyst to not just say we don’t like it but to actually do something, to defy this stuff.

“And that’s what churches are supposed to do is resist. And if the court comes back and says you don’t have a right to exercise your religion, then they’re going to have to decide what to do next. — But who would have thought that in the 21 century homosexuality would come out of the closet and churches would be forced to go into the closet?”

The Constitution is being “obliterated,” and “our democratic way of life is being transformed into a socialist agenda, and I don’t know what it’s going to take short of a Lexington-Concord type moment,” Clarke said.

“We had a Civil War. We see a great divide forming again. That’s a part of the landscape that has come from Obama; he’s an Alinskyite, and he knows you have to create a critical mass. So they’ve created all this division, stirring up racial animosity in our cities, rich against poor in the Occupy movement, and now it’s this religious divide. That’s why I keep telling people gay marriage is not the issue; you’re missing it. You have to peel back the layers and look at this transformation. It happens subtly right before your eyes, and you’ll miss it.”

Clarke said division in the conservative movement also aids the left.

“They will have to band together and decide what they’re going to do, but I think the first act is defiance,” he said. “Justices Alito, Scalia, Roberts, Thomas said this is unconstitutional. I’m going with that, and what these four justices said went against the language of these five oligarchs. Amend the Constitution if we don’t like it because we’ve done it, what, 27 times?"

Larry Pratt #fundie rightwingwatch.org

Immediately after a white gunman killed nine worshippers at a black church in Charleston, South Carolina, last month, Larry Pratt of Gun Owners of America started laying blame on the church’s slain pastor, who was also a state senator, for supporting gun control and not allowing concealed weapons in his church.

In an interview with Armed America Radio that was posted online last week, Pratt doubled down, claiming that the shooter, Dylann Roof, targeted a church “populated by liberals” and pastored by “Mr. Anti-Gun” because he knew his victims would be unarmed.

“Since this particular church was pastored by a state senator who was Mr. Anti-Gun,” he said, “then it became pretty obvious that yep, that was a gun-free zone, a bunch of liberal Democrats in there, and the dirtbag that struck, I think knew exactly what he was doing. There’d be plenty of black churches that he could have gone into, and he probably could have met effective resistance, but he went to one where it would be known to be populated by liberals, and then he had open season.”

Pratt made a similar argument about the 2011 mass shooting in Tucson that critically injured Rep. Gabrielle Giffords, claiming that the shooter “didn’t find any resistance” because Giffords is a Democrat.

Todd Starnes #fundie rightwingwatch.org

Starnes finds hope for the salvation of America in the Old Testament’s Book of Exodus, in which God sent a “swarm of hornets to clear the battlefield” for an outnumbered Israelite army. This story, argued Starnes, should be the “battle prayer of every patriot saint:” -

When the public schools tell students that our Founding Fathers were a bunch of terrorists: Send the hornets, Lord! Clear the field! When a teacher tells a little boy he can’t pray over his meal: Send the hornets, Lord! Clear that field! When the Pentagon tells them to take down a cross on a Christian chapel: Send those hornets! Clear the field! When the Supreme Court says they know better than God: Send the hornets, Lord! Clear the field! And, when the president says that America is no longer just a Christian nation: Don’t send the hornets, Lord. Send the mosquitoes and the gnats, and the bumblebees and the lightning bugs and the cicadas! Send every critter you got, Lord! Clear the field!”

John Zmirak and Eric Mataxas #fundie rightwingwatch.org

John Zmirak is a conservative columnist who actually believes that Christians in America are facing a holocaust just like Armenians in Turkey in 1915 and Tutsis in Rwanda in 1994.

In an interview with Alaska GOP politician and conservative talk show host Joe Miller that was posted online today, Zmirak maintained that gay rights advocates pose a greater threat to the U.S. than ISIS since they plan to impose a version of “gay Sharia” where Christians will be forced to pay a discriminatory jizya tax.

In an interview yesterday on “The Eric Metaxas Show,” Zmirak predicted that all churches and groups that oppose same-sex marriage will now lose their tax-exempt status, claiming that Justice Anthony Kennedy surreptitiously suggested that churches will lose their freedom of religion.

“He was opening a door for the future destruction of orthodox Christian churches in America,” Zmirak said. “It was conscious, it was intentional and I think if we have a president like Hillary Clinton, in the first 100 days of her administration, you will see the tax-exemption of every faithful church and synagogue in America revoked. It will be presented as progress, ‘love has won and now it’s time to shoot the prisoners.’”

Metaxas claimed that the U.S. is now turning into “Germany in the ‘30s” when people “had no idea” where Nazism “would end up.”

Cliff Kincaid #wingnut #homophobia rightwingwatch.org

Whatever the reason for the putsch, our form of government has been overthrown and another put in its place—a judicial dictatorship that is devoted to elevating to protected status a sexual minority seeking the abolition of traditional values. Left unchecked in its drive for power over others, this cabal threatens not only our heritage but America’s standing in the world as a superpower. It appears the Obama administration wants to spend more money on Pentagon gay pride events and climate change than actual weapons systems to defend America.

As we get ready to celebrate Independence Day, however, we can rest assured that the American people remember enough about the founding of their country that they cannot and will not accept a judicial tyranny. That would make a complete mockery of what July 4th is all about and what millions of Americans have sacrificed for.

Our media didn’t treat it as a big deal, but Justices Elena Kagan and Ruth Bader Ginsburg had both officiated at gay weddings. Groups such as the National Organization for Marriage, the American Family Association, the Coalition of African American Pastors, and the Foundation for Moral Law had called for Kagan and Ginsburg to withdraw from the case.

Matthew Kidd, executive director of the Foundation for Moral Law, told Accuracy in Media that the failure by Kagan and Ginsburg to withdraw from the case leaves them open to impeachment and removal from the bench.

In the case of Kagan, an Obama appointee, she may have had a personal conflict-of-interest. This is a sensitive matter, but various reports indicated that Kagan was a known lesbian before she was nominated to the Court by President Obama. For example, the gay blog QueerTY had identified her as a lesbian. That would mean she was compromised on homosexual issues prior to her ascension to the bench and after she was confirmed. This is a conflict of interest that cannot be tolerated.

Whether the reports of her lesbianism are true or not, we know that Kagan had an extremely radical record as Dean of Harvard Law School (2003 to 2009) where she promoted homosexuality and transgenderism. Nevertheless, she was confirmed to the Supreme Court in a 63 to 37 vote.

We now see the evidence of what happens when the media and Congress fail to do their jobs.

Congress, however, can try to undo some of the damage by holding hearings into the possible impeachment of Justices Kagan and Ginsburg. This would be one way of getting to the bottom of Scalia’s sensational charge that America’s democratic system has been subverted and stolen from the American people.

We are bound to hear that impeachment would be difficult and conviction impossible. There’s always an excuse for not taking bold action in Washington, D.C. But a congressional failure to act, in the wake of Scalia’s extraordinary charge of a judicial Putsch, would suggest that celebrating July 4th means fireworks and nothing more.

I think enough Americans are sufficiently concerned about this matter that they want to see some real fireworks, in the form of Congress exposing the lies, corruption and conflicts of interest that went into the sick and tyrannical gay marriage ruling.

Members of Congress taking up this cause will not get sympathetic headlines in the media. But it is something that has to be done if Independence Day is going to have any meaning left at all.

James David Manning #fundie rightwingwatch.org

Harlem’s notorious “stone homos” pastor James David Manning will be spending the 4th of July in Gettysburg with Stewart Rhodes, founder of the right-wing Oath Keepers group.

Naturally, Manning drew on the Civil War theme during his radio ministry on Tuesday, boasting that a group of armed neo-Confederate soldiers will launch a new Civil War in response to the Supreme Court’s marriage equality decision.

“Surely the Confederates and the South will win this time,” Manning said. “You are not going to push this sodomy.”

Manning, who said that he will join these fighters, reported that the neo-Confederates will storm the Supreme Court and the White House, proudly flying the Stars and Bars over the Capitol.

“Now the nation must be rescued from the liberal God-haters and Constitution-haters and those that are pushing this sodomy agenda,” he continued. “America will be rescued and the rescuers will be the Confederates, the Southerners, those that have been the blood-washed, Bible-believing, locked-and-loaded. I’m James David Manning and I want to be one of them. I’m the Lord’s servant. ”

Rick Wiles #fundie rightwingwatch.org

On Tuesday’s edition of “Trunews,” End Times broadcaster Rick Wiles delivered a eulogy for America and lamented that “the America I knew and loved is dead, rest in peace. It will not be resurrected.” Wiles cited the Supreme Court’s decision to legalize marriage equality as the cause of our nation’s untimely death, calling the ruling “the final abomination.”

“How can I pledge allegiance to the flag of a nation that celebrates sexual perversion, pornography and baby killing?” Wiles asked. He later added that he is "embarrassed to be a legal citizen in a nation that is openly promoting sexual perversion and compelling other nations to rebel against God too.”

According to Wiles, the death of America has ushered in a new era for the country: the era of Babylon. He criticized the “Babylonian pagans”— which is what he now calls American citizens — for rejecting the Lord’s presence and even chastised his evangelical peers, declaring, “Christians who are acting like nothing seriously happened last Friday are like people sitting on a fiery sofa in a burning house.”

Wiles, who will no longer say the pledge of allegiance or the phrase “God Bless America,” warned listeners that “there is no end to the sexual perversion this country has now opened itself to, the floodgates to sexual perversion – lewdness, sorcery, witchcraft and rebellion – opened wide last Friday.”

He also cited a Russian MP who claimed that the U.S. will “use military might and intimidation” to force other countries to accept same-sex marriage and spread its “gay delirium.”

The fire and brimstone tribute to America ended with Wiles’ assertion that “the final abomination” was upon us, which Wiles said was a reference to a dream Pastor T.D. Hale had in 2005. In his dream, Wiles said, Hale saw an American Eagle shot down in the Oval Office, with a voice saying “Weep in the house, for the misery that shall come shortly.”

Hale envisioned a smirking President Obama, dressed in all black, stepping out from behind his desk and twisting off the Eagle’s head.

“His chest cavity was open,” Wiles narrated, “The heart was exceedingly evil with thick black smoke swirling around Obama’s heart.” Obama then picked up a gavel and a voice overhead gravely proclaimed “The final abomination.”

Wiles previously vowed to leave the U.S. as a result of the ruling and encouraged others to flee with him.

Ann Coulter and Eric Metaxas #racist rightwingwatch.org

Far-right pundit Ann Coulter joined Eric Metaxas on his radio show last Friday to discuss her new anti-immigrant book, “Adios, America! The Left’s Plan to Turn Our Country into a Third World Hellhole.”

Metaxas tied anti-immigrant politics to the idea of American exceptionalism, saying that that “in order for America to fulfill its mission to the world, we’re supposed to bless the world. This country has been a blessing to all the countries that are not America, from practically day one.”

“We won’t be anymore,” retorted Coulter.

“That’s the point,” continued Metaxas. “Because if you care about people who are not in America—then you must let America be America” instead of “undermining America’s ability to be America.”

Super-patriot Coulter agreed and added: “It won’t be America, it’ll be Mexico. And will Mexico go rushing in when there’s an earthquake in Haiti? Will they be sending out more foreign aid than any other nation? No they won’t.”

Metaxas reasoned that Americans, especially Christians, are “supposed to love everybody. But loving people doesn’t mean telling them what they’re doing is okay. In fact, usually loving somebody will involve saying something that the person maybe doesn’t wanna hear.”

“It’s also not loving people to be dumping these misogynistic alien cultures on the country that are going to end up, um, raping young American girls,” Coulter responded. “Is that loving the young American girls?” Especially when it is being done “without warning, and, and without our consent.”

Rick Scarborough #fundie rightwingwatch.org

Rick Scarborough Is Ready To Burn To Death To Fight Gay Marriage

Texas pastor and conservative activist Rick Scarborough appeared this week on the National Emergency Coalition conference call hosted by E.W. Jackson, a Virginia preacher and Republican politician.

Scarborough, who repeatedly predicted that he and other pastors would be arrested and thrown in jail following the passage of the Shepard-Byrd Hate Crimes Act back in 2009, told listeners to get ready to face death as a result of gay marriage: “We are not going to bow, we are not going to bend, and if necessary, we will burn.”

“The preachers need to get out front, the leaders need to get out front, out front of these ordinary citizens and say, ‘Shoot me first,’” Scarborough said, referring to the bakers and florists who are supposedly being persecuted as a result of gay rights laws.

Scarborough went on to say that gay marriage is a Satanic plot: “The end game is the complete destruction of the church of the Lord Jesus, the replacement of it with this liberal theology that’s not a theology, it’s a philosophy, human-made, it goes back to the Garden of Eden when Satan wanted to be God. We now have a race of humans that don’t want to acknowledge that there’s a God.”

“They’re after God,” he said of Supreme Court justices who may move to strike down state bans on same-sex marriage. “This country better be aware, we’ve suffered a lot of injustices, but I’m not sure God is going to tolerate this one very long.”

Glenn Beck #fundie rightwingwatch.org

Glenn Beck opened his television program last night by declaring that "it's time to go now" because everything he has been warning about for the last decare is now all coming to fruition.

Beck said that he sat all of his children down on Sunday night and told them that "now is the time, kids, this is the time that I have been preparing you for almost your whole life now, since September 11th. This is the time."

He then went on to discuss the latest execution video released by ISIS in which several men were drowned in a cage, while others were executed by having explosives wrapped around their necks. Falsely claiming that the men featured in this video were killed because they were Christians — in reality, they were accused of being spies — Beck warned that "the time of sorrows" has begun and would soon make its way to America.

As evidence, Beck pointed to the firing of Atlanta fire chief Kelvin Cochran, whom he falsely claimed lost his job simply for opposing same-sex marriage at church, insisting that he "was never preaching this at work." That, of course, is entirely untrue, as Cochran was fired explicitly for promoting his anti-gay views at work.

Beck continued with his misinformation campaign by then repeating his likewise untrue claim that the University of California has banned phrases such as "America is a melting pot," before inevitably warning that all of this can only end in death.

"When you get down to banning ideas, the next step is banning books," Beck warned. "First step. They soften the ground, biblical views can get you fired, expressing the idea of merit is bad. What's next? I will tell you: book burnings, and re-education, and death. That's not something I'm predicting, that's not something I'm projecting, that's not something I'm cheering for, I'm not using hyperbole, I'm looking solely at history."

Alan Keyes #fundie rightwingwatch.org

Many right-wing politicians and pundits are still in denial that the Emmanuel AME church massacre was about racial hatred, despite the statements of witnesses and the shooter’s own manifesto.

Take, for example, Alan Keyes, who told Newsmax host Steve Malzberg yesterday that he does not believe that the shooting was racially motivated but was actually an incident of pro-gay, anti-Christian violence. Keyes, a Republican politician and conservative activist, said that he has personally experienced more animosity due to his religious beliefs than to his race, so concluded that the massacre must have been caused by religious hostility and thus is the latest example of the supposed “persecution” of Christians in America.

He said that the “storyline” focusing on the racial component of the Charleston shooting was “fabricated without much regard for the facts,” dismissing people who seek to “play the race card” and “play games with race” in wake of the shooting. Keyes then suggested that Dylann Roof, the shooter who left behind an extensive white supremacist manifesto, might actually have been committing a terrorist act on behalf of gay rights.

President Obama and people who want to “satisfy this or that sense of themselves and their sexual passions” created an anti-Christian climate which may have inspired the shooter, Keyes said, speculating that Roof may have been trying to “intimidate” people who oppose “the destruction of traditional marriage.”

Glenn Beck and David Barton #fundie rightwingwatch.org

Glenn Beck opened his television program last night by previewing the forthcoming Supreme Court ruling on gay marriage with David Barton of WallBuilders and Kelly Shackelford of the Liberty Institute. The three Religious Right activists warned that if gay marriage bans are struck down, churches will be stripped of their tax-exempt status, average citizens will be fired from their jobs simply for attending a church that opposes gay marriage, and the government may even attempt to strip Beck of his broadcasting license because his church won't perform gay marriages ...spectacular incidents that haven't occurred in any of the 37 states that already have marriage equality.

To kick things off, Barton flalsely claimed that 2009's hate crimes law protected pedophiles, which means that if the Supreme Court now legalizes gay marriage, pedophilia will also become legally protected.

Not to be outdone, Beck later chimed in to warn that anti-gay churches will lose their tax-exempt status, people will lose their jobs for attending such a church, and ultimately the Bible will be outlawed as a "hate book."

"Maybe right away, maybe not right away, but definitely it will happen," Beck declared.

Erich Pratt #fundie rightwingwatch.org

In a radio interview on Monday, Gun Owners of America official Erich Pratt tied the mass shooting at a black church in Charleston to the transgender rights movement, saying both are products of a school system that teaches that “there is no absolute right or wrong.”

“Sadly, I think for a lot of the education that takes place in our country, the kids are being taught, ‘You decide, you decide your own morality.’” he said. “We’re being told that you decide everything from your gender to your own morality.”

This, he said, was the root of the thinking of the Charleston shooter and of Hitler: “Well, if you are in that position where you are autonomous and you decide what’s right and wrong, in this guy’s mind, as sick as it is, he might have thought he was actually doing society a favor. Certainly Hitler did, with his mass murders, he really thought he was doing society a favor. And that’s the problem, if there is no absolute right or wrong. And as we know, that’s not being taught.”

Just one day after the attack in Charleston, Pratt, publicly condemned the church’s slain pastor, Rev. Clementa Pinckney, for his “anti-gun” activism as a state senator. Erich’s father, GOA Executive Director Larry Pratt also blamed Pinckney for leaving his congregation “defenseless” against an attacker.

Michael Savage #conspiracy rightwingwatch.org

WorldNetDaily spoke to right-wing radio host Michael Savage yesterday about the shooting in Charleston. Savage told the far-right outlet that he was just asking the question: Is the government behind the shooting?

Savage had this to say to WND immediately after his program ended: “How can we know? Was he a crazed racist? A programmed killer set loose by the government? Was it the suboxone, a known violence-inducing drug he was likely on courtesy of the AMA (American Medical Association)? Is his father a nut? All we know is that nine decent Christians were slaughtered like chickens in their own church – not in Iraq, but in the USA. And right away we saw Attorney General Janet Lynch on the pulpit, Obama decrying guns, while the band plays on, while his wife, daughters and mother-in-law enjoy shopping in Rome with Air Force One as their royal carriage.”

Michael Savage #fundie rightwingwatch.org

Yesterday on “The Savage Nation,” right-wing radio host Michael Savage was outraged about a school program in the Italian city of Trieste called the “Game of Respect,” which is meant to break down gender stereotypes.

Somehow, Savage managed to link the program to ISIS.

“The perverts have taken over every aspect of every Western culture, which, by the way, is why ISIS is rising around the world,” Savage said. “Make no mistake about it, ISIS is a counterpoint to these psychotics. You don’t understand that, I do. I have a global perspective, I have a mystical perspective, I have a godly perspective and I am telling you there is a reason ISIS is making gains, it’s because of the vermin who have penetrated our culture and destroyed it from within.”

Michael Savage: Western 'Perverts' To Blame For ISIS; 'Obama Is The Devil'
SUBMITTED BY Brian Tashman on Thursday, 6/18/2015 3:40 pm

Savage claimed that the “cultural and societal degradation” is also the fault of President Obama, whom he said is “dumping so many Muslims in all-white Christian communities” in order to “bust up the Christian communities.”

“The man is the Devil,” Savage continued. “Obama and his minions are the Devil themselves. They are not out to remake America but to destroy America. I stand by those words, I will not back down and someone on the Republican ticket has to stand up and show a pair of you-know-what and say something about this cultural degradation.”

The only Republican politician taking such a brave stance, he added, is Donald Trump.

Michael Savage #wingnut #homophobia #transphobia rightwingwatch.org

Last week on “The Savage Nation,” a caller told radio host Michael Savage that Planned Parenthood and the ACLU are pressuring schools into “using sexuality based sex-ed and opening up their bathrooms to whomever wants to use it.” Savage lashed out at the ACLU as “the most dangerous organization in American history” and “the worst parasites the world has ever seen in this nation” because it seeks to “poison your child’s mind into accepting a perversion that’s beyond comprehension.”

“Are the straights bullying the gays or are the gays bullying the straights?” Savage continued. “Does anybody tell a gay how to live? No. They wouldn’t dare. Then why do the gays think it’s their right to tell everybody else what to think? Because they can. It was never about equality.”

He added that the “vermin” advocating for gay rights are “sick degenerates” who want to “poison” and “destroy your child’s mind,” adding: “I will not mince words, I don’t care what it costs me anymore, may it be the last day of my broadcast but I’m not going to lie, but I am sick of the sick perverts running and ruining America.”

Alex Jones #conspiracy rightwingwatch.org

Alex Jones today described Hillary Clinton as a Jim Jones-style “cult leader” who is using mind-control techniques to trick and manipulate voters.

The “InfoWars” host was actually so frightened at the prospect of a Clinton presidency that he was brought to tears and threatened to leave the country.

“God, she’s going to be president,” he said. I can’t even look at it.”

He later mocked Clinton supporters as “braindead” “fluoride-heads” who are in a trance.

Avi Lipkin #fundie rightwingwatch.org

Pastor Jim Garlow is currently hosting his "Future Conference" at his megachurch in San Diego, which was organized in order to mobilize and train pastors to give up their lives, if necessary, to fight supposed anti-Christian persecution in America.

Unsurprisingly, speakers at the conference are delivering all sorts of apocalyptic warnings, such as the one issued by right-wing anti-Islam activist Avi Lipkin — the right-wing activist who thinks that President Obama and the Illuminati are bringing 100 million Muslims to America — who told attendees that every church in America has been infiltrated by Muslim "spies" who are pretending to have converted to Christianity for the sole purpose of gathering information on all the members of the congregation so that they can be killed when Muslims carry out jihad against America:

Jewish author Avi Lipkin warned Monday that "all" churches in America have been infiltrated by Muslim spies who frequently pretend to have found Christ but are really looking to provide intelligence to radical Muslims who will try to kill all Jews and Christians when jihad is ordered upon the U.S.

...

When Muslims are called to jihad, Lipkin believes that they will already have personal information on Jews and Christians because they will have used deception to build personal relationships with those they seek to exterminate.

Explaining that it is a violation of the Quran for Muslims to seek relationships with Jews and Christians, Lipkin said there is an exception for those who plan to act as Islamic spies on churches and synagogues.

Lipkin further explained that his wife, an Egyptian-born Jewess named Rachel, is an avid monitor of various Islamic broadcasts, television feeds and other Islamic news outlets. In one particular Arabian broadcast, Lipkin said Rachel heard the claim made that "all" churches in America have Muslim spies.

"It is very dangerous for a Muslim to even be associated with Christian missionaries or Christian churches unless they are spies. My wife has picked up broadcasts that say all the churches in America have Muslim spies in them, including former Christians who converted to Islam," Lipkin said.

"When Muslims come to you and say 'Oh yes, we have accepted Christ and we are born-again,' you gotta be real careful because lying in Arabic is not only permissible it is commanded. Lying is a virtue in Islam to defeat the enemy."

Lipkin told the story of one highly-decorated Middle Eastern Muslim doctor who applied for a Canadian visa in order to set up a medical office in Edmonton, Alberta. Before leaving for Canada, Lipkin explained that radical Muslims demanded that she record the personal information, addresses and phone numbers of her Jewish and Christian patients in Edmonton. The Muslims demanded that after she acquired the personal information of her non-Muslim patients, she had to send it to them on a disk so that information can be used to kill her patients once jihad has been ordered in Canada.

"When a war breaks out in the Middle East and orders for jihad come to the Muslims of Canada, the Muslims of Edmonton will kill the Jews of Edmonton and Muslims of Toronto will kill the Jews of Toronto and the Muslims of Vancouver will kill the Jews of Vancouver," Lipkin continued.

Glenn Beck #fundie rightwingwatch.org

On his radio program this morning, Glenn Beck recounted how, when his daughter was off at college, she was essentially brainwashed into believing that people like him hated gays. That was absurd, he told her, because just look at "how many homosexual friends we have, how many homosexual employees we have" as he assured her that "we have no problem" with gay people.

The reason he opposes gay marriage, he explained to her, is because gay activists only want it so that they can use it to force Christians to violate their faith, just like during the time of Sodom and Gomorrah.

In Beck's recounting of Genesis 19, two angels arrived at Lot's house when the men of Sodom and Gomorrah demanded they be sent outside so they could have sex with them, which Lot rejected, offering his own daughter as a substitute. And that is exactly what Christians are facing again today as they too are surrounded and pressured by gay activists who are forcing them to comply.

"Lot has said in his language of his day, 'Guys, don’t force us to comply. Don't force us to comply,'" Beck said. "No, you will comply! It shows that even back then, the religious were willing to — they didn’t want to fight, they're not trying to control everybody — they're just saying, no, I don’t want to participate."

"Think of the people who won't do floral arrangements for gay weddings," he continued. "Think about the people who are bakers. Now there's another one with a DJ. They just say, 'I don't want to participate.' That's what Lot was saying, we don’t want to participate. And in exchange for not participating, I'll give you something I shouldn't be offering, but I'll comprise this far but no further. We're making exactly the same mistakes and they are making exactly the same demands as were happening in Sodom and Gomorrah."

Greg Heartsill and Jan Mickelson #fundie rightwingwatch.org

Iowa state Rep. Greg Heartsill has been rallying his fellow Republicans against the Governor’s Conference on LGBTQ Youth, an annual event organized by the anti-bullying group Iowa Safe Schools.

On Friday, Heartsill spoke to talk show host Jan Mickelson, who frequently hosts GOP presidential candidates on his Iowa-based program, about the conference, and was also joined by Republican state Rep. Steve Holt.

Mickelson was so outraged about the event that he said that the organizers should be criminally prosecuted for violating obscenity laws, and Heartsill said that he plans to be in contact with the county attorney for Polk County, where the conference was held, to see if summit organizers broke the law.

“There’s possibility a criminal element,” Heartsill said.

Holt agreed with Mickelson’s assessment, claiming that the summit material “seems to violate Iowa law.”

“If this were attempted just a generation ago, there would be people in jail already,” Mickelson said, adding: “We really have quickly deteriorated as a culture.”

Ben Carson #fundie rightwingwatch.org

God Helped Ben Carson Ace His College Chemistry Final By Giving Him All The Answers In A Dream

Republican presidential candidate Ben Carson was among the featured speakers at the official National Day of Prayer gathering in Washington, D.C. this morning where he told the story about the time that God helped him ace his college chemistry final by providing him with all of the answers in a dream.

As Carson explained it, his goal of becoming a doctor was nearly derailed in his first semester at Yale University when he was failing his chemistry class to such an extent that he would not have been able to pass even if managed to get an A on the final exam. Fortunately for him, this particular professor had a policy that anyone who was failing the class could receive double credit on the final and so Carson asked God for a miracle before committing himself to study for the exam the night before.

But instead of studying, Carson fell asleep and had a dream in which he was alone in an auditorium as some "nebulous figure" wrote out chemistry problems on the blackboard.

"When I went to take the test the next morning, it was like 'The Twilight Zone,'" Carson said. "I opened that book and I recognized the first problem as one of the ones I dreamed about. And the next, and the next, and the next, and I aced the exam and got a good mark in chemistry. It worked out okay and I promised the Lord he would never have to do that for me again":

Rick Santorum #fundie rightwingwatch.org

Rick Santorum called into Glenn Beck's radio program this morning, where he warned that if the Supreme Court legalizes gay marriage, it will be an unconstitutional establishment of religion that, when he becomes president, he will not enforce.

Citing the absurd claims made by David Barton on his radio program yesterday, Beck warned that if the Supreme Court strikes down gay marriage bans, the government will strip churches of their tax-exempt status and force them to perform gay marriages, and asked Santorum how he would respond to this if he is elected president.

"This is tantamount to government establishing religion," Santorum said. "When the United States government comes in and says this is what you are going to believe, this is how you're going to practice your faith, this is a new religion. This violates, in my opinion, the Establishment Clause in the Constitution that says that Congress shall make no law with respect to an establishment of religion. If the government goes around and tells churches what they have to believe in and what their doctrine is, that is something that is a violation of the First Amendment."

Santorum said that he holds out hope that the Supreme Court will rule against marriage equality advocates "because there is no way that the left will stop at mere tolerance, they will demand conformity, they will demand it from the church, they will demand it from every institution, they will demand it from businesses and there will be no tolerance to a different point of view on this issue."

But if the Supreme Court does legalize gay marriage, Santorum said that, as president, he will fight it. "If they get it wrong and the consequences are what I suspect they will be toward people of faith," he said, "then this president will fight back."

Ann Coulter #fundie rightwingwatch.org

Christian America, religious America I should say — the same thing is true of Orthodox Jews and conservative Jews, although that is a very small percentage of the population — religious America is reproducing well above replacement rate, it’s liberals who are aborting and going gay and anyone with a flair for color, so I think we will have a leg-up in the demographic war. That’s what the left was facing, that they weren’t reproducing enough so they had to bring in the ringers from the Third World to vote for them.

Bob Vander Plaats and Steve Deace #fundie rightwingwatch.org

Last week, after Caitlyn Jenner introduced herself on the cover of Vanity Fair, prominent Iowa talk radio host Steve Deace told Republican candidates that if they wouldn’t speak out against Jenner’s transition, “you might as well just forfeit the 2016 election now.” When CNN’s Dana Bash asked Sen. Lindsey Graham about Deace’s comments in an interview over the weekend, he responded that while he’s “a pro-life, traditional marriage kind of guy,” Jenner is “welcome in my party.”

He then addressed Deace directly: “Here's what I would say to the talk show host: In the eyes of radical Islam, they hate you as much as they hate Caitlyn Jenner. They hate us all because we won’t agree to their view of religion. So, America, we’re all in this together.”

All of this, unsurprisingly, did not go over very well with Deace, who addressed Graham’s comments yesterday during his weekly discussion of presidential candidates with Iowa social conservative activist Bob Vander Plaats, saying, “If you’re not going to defend the idea of male and female, you’re not going to defend any of those other things that you just claimed to be for, Sen. Graham.”

Vander Plaats, an influential force in Iowa Republican politics, agreed, saying that if Graham wouldn’t speak out against people like Caitlyn Jenner, he could never fight radical Islam.

“The thing of it is, you can go out and you can have empathy and compassion for Bruce/Caitlyn Jenner,” he said. “However, you have to be able to stand up and say, but God still created us male and female. That’s the basic point here.”

“That’s our issue with Lindsey Graham,” he added, “is that you can say you’re pro-life, you can say you’re for God’s design for the family in marriage, you can say that he created them male and female, but when you never take a stand on those issues, it’s awfully hard for us to trust, then, that you’re going to take a stand against radical Islam or any other domestic matter or foreign matter that may come up during a presidency. That’s why I think in Iowa not many people take Lindsay Graham seriously.”

Pat Robertson #fundie rightwingwatch.org

Today on “The 700 Club,” a viewer asked host Pat Robertson what she should say to a coworker who asked her, “Why did God allow my baby to die?”

He responded that it is possible that the coworker’s three-year-old child died as a result of human error at the hospital: “Are you going to blame that on God? That’s not God, that’s people who are making mistakes.”

Robertson, who once said at a faith healing that God could bring a dead baby back to life, continued that perhaps the child would have turned out to be the next Adolf Hitler, and therefore it is better that the woman’s child is in Heaven rather than becoming a murderer.

“As far as God’s concerned, he knows the end from the beginning and He sees a little baby and that little baby could grow up to be Adolf Hitler, he could grow up to be Joseph Stalin, he could grow up to be some serial killer, or he could grow up to die of a hideous disease,” Robertson said. “God sees all of that, and for that life to be terminated while he’s a baby, he’s going to be with God forever in Heaven so it isn’t a bad thing.”

Glenn Beck #fundie rightwingwatch.org

All last week, Glenn Beck promised that he would make a major announcement on Monday morning about some new campaign, saying "I believe my entire life has led to this point."

This morning, Beck made that announcement but, in typical Beck fashion, he first spent nearly an hour and a half delivering a long-winded and self-aggrandizing monologue full of references to Dietrich Bonhoeffer, Mahatma Gandhi, and Martin Luther King and passages of Scripture as he railed about how America has gone completely off the rails, fuming that this nation only cares about things like Caitlyn Jenner, abortion rights, and transableism at a time when Christians are being slaughtered by ISIS in the Middle East.

"We are no longer a country that I recognize," he said. "We are no longer a people that I recognize. We are no longer a nation in which I care to call myself a member of. We've become a place where our citizenship is more of an indictment than an honor ... We are a country that has not only lost its way, but history will show that we have lost our ever-loving minds."

Eventually, Beck finally got around to announcing a new "Never Again Is Now" campaign to raise awareness of the crisis in the Middle East and a relief effort organized by his Mercury One charity to provide supplies and aid to those displaced and threatened by ISIS.

But there is more to the effort than simply providing relief to the victims of ISIS, as Beck is personally launching a speaking tour of churches in order to wake up Americans to the threat posed by things like gay marriage and to train them to carry out boycotts, civil disobedience, and nonviolent resistance ... and just like Martin Luther King, Beck will be kicking this effort off in Birmingham, Alabama.

"If you think there is trouble now, what happens when the Supreme Court decides to say that homosexual marriage is the law of the land?" Beck asked. "Will this administration then force our churches to comply? Will you be forced to violate your own faith? We must together wake the most powerful force on earth: the people of God."

"I'm going to begin," he continued, "where Martin Luther King began. On 8/28, I'm going to be in Birmingham, Alabama in a church just down the street from where Martin Luther King began his historic stand against Bull Connor ... We are going to begin to gather like-minded people and we are going to begin to train ourselves for non-violent resistance and civil disobedience. We're going to begin to train ourselves for boycotts and sit-ins. We're going to do all of the things that we thought were too radical or too hippy-like to do because we have to understand that we are now David and Goliath has all of the power. But we all know how that story ends."

Ann Coulter #fundie rightwingwatch.org

On Friday, Ann Coulter stopped by “The Eric Metaxas Show” to promote her new anti-immigrant book, “Adios, America! The Left's Plan to Turn Our Country into a Third World Hellhole.” Coulter blamed Mitt Romney’s 2012 election defeat on immigration, lamenting that there aren’t enough white voters in the U.S. and urging the former governor to make a third presidential bid to save America.

If the country doesn’t crack down on immigration, Coulter warned, the U.S. is going to transform into Uganda and will face gender segregation and mass sexual violence against women and children.

“Reagan got, I think it was 54 percent of the white vote, Romney got 59 percent of the white vote; the country in 1980 was about 90 percent white, now it’s about 62 percent white though still only 72 who can vote,” Coulter said. “If something drastic isn’t done right away, it is going to be George McGovern’s America, it is going to be La Raza’s America, it is going to be Uganda, basically. And get used to having segregated buses and subways, as they have in India and Mexico, because of the way women are treated and sexually abused there; get used to your little girls being raped and being pregnant; get used to not being able to go to your national parks because they are being burnt down, pot farms are being grown there, pesticides dumped all over.”

Coulter insisted that she was not using hyperbole, predicting that “if this book doesn’t work and change our immigration policy, that’s it, time to build the bunker and hire the cheap maids.”

Don Feder #fundie rightwingwatch.org

At a World Congress of Families regional event in Belgrade in April, the group’s communications director, Don Feder, declared that a worldwide effort is needed to overthrow the “sexual revolution,” including the widespread acceptance of contraception, which he said leads to “death” by “preventing life from happening" and will ultimately lead to the "extinction" of humanity.

WCF, which will hold its annual conference in Salt Lake City this year, has from its inception pushed fears of a “demographic winter” caused by low fertility rates, a message that has been especially effective in European and Slavic countries where where right-wing movements encourage panic about immigration. Last year’s conference in Moscow, which WCF withdrew its official sponsorship of in resonse to the conflict in Ukraine but maintained an organizing role in, was organized under the theme “Large Families and the Future of Mankind.”

Feder told the gathering in Belgrade that the world is at risk from widespread contraception use “financed by governments, corporations or international agencies.”

“Many species have become extinct,” he said. “Our species may be the first to finance its own extinction.”

“We won’t find our way out of the forest of demographic winter until the sexual revolution is overthrown,” he continued, “its premises rejected, its prophets exposed, its dogma debunked. Ladies and gentlemen, ultimately the sexual revolution is about death: death through abortion, death through contraception (preventing life from happening), death through sexually transmitted diseases, death through pornography, death through promiscuity, all of this in place of monogamous marriage and childbearing.”

Also attending the Belgrade event were WCF’s Russian representative Alexey Komov and its French representative, far-right politician Fabrice Sorlin. Another speaker was Archipriest Dmitri Smirnov, a top official for “family” issues with the Russian Orthodox Church who has worked closely with WCF in the past.

The event was organized by representatives of the Serbian far-right Dveri movement, which worked with WCF to get a Belgrade gay pride parade canceled in 2013.

Gordon Klingenschmitt #fundie #homophobia rightwingwatch.org

On his most recent "Pray In Jesus Name" program, Gordon Klingenschmitt reacted to the recent vote by the citizens of Ireland to legalize gay marriage by declaring that the country needs a modern-day St. Patrick to rise up and rid the nation of the demonic "snakes" that are encouraging people to embrace sin.

"There was a time when it was said that St. Patrick drove the snakes out of Ireland," Klingenschmitt said, "and now I'm concerned that the snakes have returned to Ireland. And when I say snakes, I'm not talking about physical snakes, I'm talking about the demonic spirits inside of some of the people you see parading their sin in pride around the country, rejecting not just the Catholic Church but rejecting Jesus Christ himself."

"Jesus Christ defined marriage between one man and one woman," he continued, "and maybe it's time for another St. Patrick to go back into Ireland and preach the good news that Jesus can make you free from sin and drive out the snakes once again."

Kevin Swanson and Steve Vaughn #fundie rightwingwatch.org

Today on “Generations Radio,” Colorado homeschooling activists Kevin Swanson and Steve Vaughn discussed the Duggar family child sexual abuse scandal.

Swanson insisted that liberals were waiting for the opportunity to mock the Duggar family because “the world has killed billions of babies since 1960 thanks to abortion and the abortifacient birth control pill,” and are hoping to silence anyone who says “that there is something wrong with killing babies or there’s something wrong with having sex with anything out there that moves or doesn’t move.”

Then, Swanson sarcastically shared “a list of things we’re not going to say about the recent revelations,” for example, “we’re not going to say that incest is worse than homosexuality.”

“They’re about the same,” Vaughn replied.

Phyllis Schafly #fundie rightwingwatch.org

Anti-feminist crusader Phyllis Schlafly stopped by VCY America’s “Crosstalk” program yesterday to discuss her book “Who Killed The American Family?” (Spoiler:“It’s not just the gays.”)

One overlooked murderer of the family, Schlafly said, are “the free trade people who have done the work of the feminists by getting rid of [middle class] jobs.” This led her to discuss the gender pay gap, which she said is actually something that women like because they want to marry someone who makes more than they do (a sentiment that she has expressed before).

“Women like to marry a man who makes more than she does,” she explained, “so then she can take time off and work fewer hours when she has something she’d rather do like have a kid and look after her children. So the pay gap, really, is something that women like.”

Michael Savage #conspiracy rightwingwatch.org

Michael Savage warned his listeners on Tuesday about President Obama’s “grand strategy for stealing America in 2016 and giving it to the bowling pin,” which he said involves fomenting a devastating race war in which gang members “intimidate” and “frighten you not to vote.”

“You have Satan in the White House,” Savage said, or, rather, shouted. “You have an absolute fork-tongued Satan every day in every way trying to bring the country to its knees, trying to turn black against white, white against black, Americans against the police, everyday Satan does it.”

Savage said that he is simply trying to save us all from death at Obama’s hands: “I see the country on fire. I see the man with the matches and the lighter fuel and I see him playing with the lighter fuel and the matches every day and I’m standing here like a fireman screaming, ‘Fire in the theater!’ Get the child out of the White House. He is going to set the nation on fire like he set the world on fire. Stop him before he kills all of us.”

“And if you think I’m paranoid then you’re really sick or you are stoned on medical marijuana and you don’t know what the hell you’re doing yourself,” he added for good measure.

Matthew Hagee #fundie rightwingwatch.org

In the last few years, Matthew Hagee has used his weekly "Hagee Hotline" program to warn that the striking down of DOMA, Obamacare, climate change, Ebola, a shooting at the Naval Yard, and a shooting in Canada's parliament were all signs of the End Times.

On yesterday's program, Hagee added last weekend's shootout between rival motorcycle gangs in Waco, Texas, to the list.

"One of the things that I believe is important to point out in this situation is that the Bible says that in the End Times, lawlessness would abound," Hagee said. "When these kinds of events take place, one word seems to describe them: lawlessness"

Michael Savage #fundie rightwingwatch.org

Last Friday on “The Savage Nation,” talk radio host Michael Savage reacted angrily to the news that some Girl Scout troops will accept transgender girls. He claimed that the Girl Scouts have embraced “the sickness of the left” and is now losing members as a result of its “lurch to the paranoid, crazy, insane, perverted left.”

After falsely claiming that the Girl Scouts “endorsed Wendy Davis” — when in reality the group’s Twitter handle linked to a Huffington Post article which contained a HuffPost Live video mentioning her — he blamed liberals for the group’s supposed downfall.

“Believe me, there’s still plenty of Christian parents who knew that the Scouts used to be a wholesome place until the vermin on the left got control of both organizations, a pox upon them,” Savage continued. “Crossdressing boys into a Girl Scout, you hear this? Create a crossdressing troop is all.”

John Diehl #fundie rightwingwatch.org

The Kansas City Star today reported that the speaker of the Missouri House, Republican John Diehl, sent several sexually charged text messages to a female college freshman who was working as an intern in the state legislature.

Diehl, who is married, has championed the Religious Right’s anti-gay agenda in the state house, and has in turn been praised by state conservative groups for his “moral leadership.”

Earlier this year, Diehl and the president pro-tempore of the state Senate filed an amicus brief in defense of the state’s anti-gay-marriage amendment, leading the Missouri Family Policy Council, the state affiliate of the Family Research Council, to praise the speaker “for demonstrating moral leadership and true integrity in standing up for the sacred institution of marriage and the family values of the people of Missouri.” The state affiliate of the Southern Baptist Convention thanked him for “fighting to defend biblical marriage.”

“Missourians owe a debt of gratitude to Speaker of the House Tim Jones, Senate President Pro Tempore Tom Dempsey and Speaker of the House-designee John Diehl for intervening on behalf of the state in the Jackson County case where state Circuit Judge J. Dale Youngs ruled that 10 same-sex couples married in other states, but now living in Missouri, are entitled to the same benefits as heterosexual married couples,” said Don Hinkle, editor of the Missouri Southern Baptist newsletter The Pathway. “Their action took political courage and they are to be commended for their leadership.”

Diehl also co-sponsored a 2012 bill to ban Gay-Straight Alliances in public schools, which read: “Notwithstanding any other law to the contrary, no instruction, material, or extracurricular activity sponsored by a public school that discusses sexual orientation other than in scientific instruction concerning human reproduction shall be provided in any public school.”

The St. Louis Post-Dispatch at the time called it a “hateful and unconstitutional attack on individual rights” and slammed Diehl for backing “a loathsome bill in a cynical attempt to garner support from the right wing.”

Jesse Lee Peterson #racist rightwingwatch.org

Conservative talk show host Jesse Lee Peterson told WorldNetDaily in an interview today that African-American “civil-rights leaders” are “worse than the Ku Klux Klan and skinheads combined,” blaming them for the recent riots in Baltimore.

WND notes that Peterson believes “that African-Americans are worse off now than they were before the civil rights movement.” The right-wing pundit told the outlet that African Americans can only make progress once they “overcome their false sense of victimhood and stop blaming whites.”

“Modern-day civil-rights leaders are the worst enemy of black Americans,” he charged. “These black ‘leaders’ are worse than the Ku Klux Klan and skinheads combined.”

Peterson believes the situation in Baltimore is an outgrowth of the culture of grievance adopted by too many African-Americans. He even charges that African-Americans are worse off now than they were before the civil rights movement.

“Blacks are less independent. The black family unit, for the most part, has been destroyed. Blacks today are more dependent on government programs and handouts,” he said.

“I cannot think of any notable positive developments taking place at this time,” he said. Regarding the disintegration of public order in Baltimore, Peterson said nothing will change unless blacks stop trying to blame everyone else for their community’s problems.

“Blacks need to get over their ‘blackness’ and become Americans rather than ‘African-Americans,’” he said. “They must overcome their false sense of victimhood and stop blaming whites. They need to stop relying on the government and leaders so they can become independent and think for themselves.”

Sandy Rios #fundie rightwingwatch.org

Anti-gay pundits such as Charles C. Johnson and the editors of WorldNetDaily are making hay over the news that the engineer of the fatal Amtrak crash in Philadelphia on Tuesday was a supporter of gay rights and may be gay himself.

Today on her radio program, American Family Association governmental affairs director Sandy Rios also mentioned the engineer’s sexual orientation, saying it was likely “a factor” the crash.

“Now I am not saying, I am not inferring to those of you that are gay rights activists and like to monitor this show, I’m not inferring that this accident happened because he was gay, but I do think it’s an interesting part of the story and you can bet it would be edited out,” Rios said. She then suggested that the engineer could have possibly been “going through some confusion that has to do with the very core of who they are,” and mentioned the story of an airline pilot who “put his entire plane at risk because he had an emotional, angry outburst to something that happened,” which she says was related to hormone therapy he was receiving.

Rios added: “I don’t know, but I think it is something to be discussed and I think it’s a factor and I doubt you will hear it anywhere else.”

Franklin Graham #fundie rightwingwatch.org

Franklin Graham is outraged by the news that the character Iceman will come out as gay in a new issue of “X-men” issue. The Religious Right leader took to his Facebook page today to lament that Marvel is using Iceman in an attempt “to indoctrinate our young people to accept this destructive lifestyle.”

"Today the Marvel comic character Ice Man, from the "X-Men" series, is coming out as gay. This is another attempt to indoctrinate out young people to this destructive lifestyle. God's word says homosexuality is a sin, and we are to be on guard against all sin. God calls us to repent, turn from our sins, and out our trust in His Son Jesus Christ who died and rose again to pay the penalty for sin."

Graham has previously praised Russian President Vladimir Putin for criminalizing speech that is perceived as pro-gay “propaganda” directed at young people.

Sandy Rios #fundie rightwingwatch.org

Andrea Lafferty of the Traditional Values Coalition stopped by “Sandy Rios in the Morning” today to discuss the Fairfax County, Virginia, school board’s recent decision to approve a gender identity nondiscrimination measure. Lafferty, who in her last appearance on the show called for schools to ban transgender teachers altogether, lamented the vote’s passage, decrying the “crazed board members” who backed the change.

Rios, the director of governmental affairs at the American Family Association, told Lafferty that LGBT rights advocates have been “homosexualizing schools” for over two decades, warning that LGBT themes are “folded into the texts of almost every discipline.”

“Look at the polls showing how our kids feel about homosexuality, even Christian kids,” Rios continued. “Does anybody think that’s by accident? It’s because they are inundated with a steady flow — even in those nice, good schools that you think you have. Good teachers have been silenced and for the most part they have folded.”

She warned that parents only have two options: “You’ve either got to run for school board and cleanse your local governance of these kinds of people making these horrible decisions or you’ve got to pull your kids out of school. I don’t see another choice.”

“You are putting your children in such great danger now,” she said. “Danger because of the confusion, because of the temptation, because of the indoctrination. You’re not helpless to do something about it, but you will be.”

Stewart Rhodes #fundie rightwingwatch.org

Oath Keepers founder Stewart Rhodes told a Tempe, Arizona, conservative gathering last week that Sen. John McCain should be tried for treason and “hung by the neck until dead” for going “along with the program of the destruction of this country.”

Rhodes was taking part in an event featuring opponents of a proposed constitutional convention, including Andy Biggs, the Republican president of the Arizona state senate, and “constitutional sheriff” Richard Mack, both of whom sat alongside Rhodes as he gave his remarks.

Arguing that a constitutional convention would be skewed by the political establishment like state party conventions, Rhodes recalled his experience serving as a Ron Paul delegate in the 2008 GOP convention in Nevada, which Paul supporters claim was ended abruptly in order to shut them out.

The “GOP good-ol’-boy network,” Rhode said, “were simply getting their preordained, anointed candidate who would go along with the program of the destruction of this country.”

“John Cain [sic] is a traitor to the Constitution,” he added. “He should be tried for treason before a jury of his peers — which he would deny you, he supports your denial of a jury trial, he supported the NDAA saying that he could just have the president slam you into a brig in North Carolina or South Carolina or wherever else he wanted to, try you by military tribunal and have you executed. He would deny you the right for trial to jury, but we will give him a trial for jury, and then after we convict him, he should be hung by the neck until dead. But that was their candidate!”

Tamara Scott #fundie rightwingwatch.org

Last week, Iowa Republican National Committee member Tamara Scott invited fellow RNC member Carolyn McClarty of Oklahoma on to her “Truth for Our Time” radio program to discuss an anti-marriage-equality amicus brief that a subset of conservative RNC members led by McClarty submitted to the Supreme Court.

As the two walked through the various points made in the amicus brief, Scott wandered into a digression about how the “women who are fussing on the left” about wanting to eventually see equal numbers of men and women in Congress should also oppose marriage equality, because if you ban gay marriage, there will be an equal number of men and women in each marriage.

“By 2020, they want 50/50 in the state houses and the U.S. House and Senate. They want 50 percent women and 50 percent men, they want 50/50, they want equality,” she said. “So my laugh is, why wouldn’t you want equality in a marriage? Why aren’t those same women wanting that same argument at home? Because we know children do better when they’re raised by their biological parents.”

This led McClarty to explain that “the extreme feminist movement and the gay liberation movement really is using same-sex marriage as a way to destroy marriage.”

“The feminist movement, they’ve been against marriage from the beginning, against traditional marriage, and it was up until the Massachusetts court case in 2003 where they recognized same-sex marriage in Massachusetts that they kind of changed their tune,” she said. “And now they see that this would also destroy marriage, so they’re for same-sex marriage.”

This led Scott to a discussion of civil unions, which she said she also can’t support because there is still the issue of “the act” that “God has not condoned,” and so allowing civil unions is “asking your fellow citizens to embrace something that goes against their First Amendment religious protections.”

“Well, it doesn’t make sense to me, because the whole point of our concern with the same-sex marriage is that the act, that God has not condoned it,” she explained. “I can’t condone what he’s condemned. I just can’t go there. So to ask or to force American citizens to condone something that’s against their deeply held religious convictions is wrong. So whether you call it marriage or you call it a civil union, you’re still asking your fellow citizens to embrace something that goes against their First Amendment religious protections.
