I’d be more inclined to believe Vidal’s account than anyone’s that has posted in this thread.

Regardless of what the statute books determine rape to be, why is it so difficult to consider that Polanski’s victim might have been a teenage slut?

Because even if she was a “slut,” it’s still rape to have sex with a 13 year old girl? And by her account, it was not just statutory rape but forcible rape?

Well, she would say that, wouldn’t she?

As for her age, I’d bet that at least 50% of males on this planet, if they had a physically mature, attractive young lady waving her tush at them, would have done the same thing. Knowing her age might decrease that number, but there still wouldn’t be only Roman Polanski answering the call.

Well, the judge believed her testimony. Why are you so determined to paint her as a conniving little slut–because Gore Vidal said so?

Why is everyone else so determined to paint her as an innocent young victim, is just as valid a question. I’m giving Polanski the benefit of the doubt, because I’ve heard enough stories about teenage “star-fuckers”; what are your reasons for believing her account of the event?

I’m no saint by any stretch. But I wouldn’t rape a 13 year old girl who thought she was willing. Nor would I forcibly rape any woman.Seriously, are you such a weak kneed pussy that you can’t hold your own against a 13 year old girl? Do you truly have less character and force of will than a 13 year of child?

Can you point out where I said I’d be among the 50% that would? I know I am a honorable man, but I don’t know that about everyone else. Polanski might not be a honorable man, but I wasn’t there when this incident happened, so I’m not going to pontificate about what an evil man he is, based on one girl’s testimony. Now, if you can show this was not an isolated incident, I might be more inclined to join in with your faux outrage.
