It senses life. Through the photon field and the quantum substrate connecting every radiating body to every receiving one, the sun registers the organisms it warms. Life enriches the field.

Its surface is inhabited. Species adapted to plasma, radiation pressure, magnetic storm, coronal flux. Life at scales that make carbon biology look like a rough draft. They have been there since ignition.

Jupiter and Saturn are the sun’s offspring. Proto-suns, cold and waiting, below ignition threshold. Saturn’s rings are the disk structure of a solar body in early formation. Jupiter is a step behind. Both can be ignited with sufficient added mass. The ignition of Jupiter and Saturn before the parent sun fails is the central strategic objective of this solar system in the current era.

When a sun dies the system goes dark. The gap before an offspring ignites averages a few million years. No sentient species crosses that gap in active form. Deep hibernation beyond a thousand years does not hold for any known intelligent biology, on any world in any system. Nothing with a nervous system survives it intact. Life retreats to geothermal depth or it ends. This is consistent across every inhabited system in the cluster.
