Richard Mack, a former Arizona county sheriff and founder of the Constitutional Sheriffs and Peace Officers Association, is cheering on President Donald Trump's takeover of Washington, DC, and urging sheriffs all around the country to follow suit

Mack, a former Oath Keepers board member who teaches sheriffs that they are the highest law enforcement authority in their counties and have a duty to resist state and federal “tyranny," appeared on Matt Shea's "Patriot Radio" program recently[…]
"I have never wanted to politicize crime," Mack said. "But if you look at all the horrible statistics in all the major cities that are run by Democrats, it's irrefutable, it's inescapable. The conclusion is thus inescapable that Democrat Party and Democrat leadership have completely failed the American people"

"What is the main responsibility of the government?" he continued. "It is to protect life, liberty and property. And so if we keep the goal on those three [in mind], then when [Los Angels Mayor Karen] Bass and [California Gov. Gavin] Newsom fail and summarily ignore the problem and willingly help the criminal element within their state and the Greater Los Angeles area, the sheriff of Los Angeles County should be getting going and telling the mayor he's taking over"

"The sheriff of Los Angeles County, he has concurrent jurisdiction and he has jurisdiction citywide and county wide," Mack declared. "So, he should be going in there and showing them how you do this and he should tell Trump, 'Let me try first. If I need you, I'll call you'"

Shea agreed, saying that "the real solution" is for country sheriffs to start taking over large, Democratic-run cities and then "request help from the federal government if he needs it"

"Cook County in Chicago, that sheriff should be taking over," Mack replied. "I think Baltimore, same thing; they do have a sheriff right there. They need to get in there and start taking care of this. What are the sheriffs waiting for?"
