José Luis Chilavert #racist gazzetta.it

A fierce war of words has erupted between former players Christophe Dugarry and José Luis Chilavert. The pair were key figures in the 1998 Round of 32 match between France and Paraguay, which the Bleus won with a golden goal from Blanc. Dugarry remained on the bench throughout, while Chilavert started in goal. Twenty-eight years later, Dugarry reignited the "hostilities" during an appearance on RMC radio show "Rothen s’enflamme", mincing no words: "Paraguay will be overwhelmed. They will want to defend because they are incapable of playing any kind of offensive game. Who can challenge us today? Who can stop our attack? Sweden, who have two €100 million strikers, couldn't do it. France crushes everyone, and if Paraguay tries to play a more offensive game, they will be humiliated"

Chilavert evidently did not take kindly to Dugarry's comments and used his X profile to respond, but unfortunately for him, he ended up posting a racist remark. A serious lapse in judgement, or perhaps a regrettable blunder, if you prefer. "You're right... In 1998 we faced France, now we will face an African team"
