[Regarding a military general comparing MAGA to Al-Qaeda]

So, what? John Adams, Tom Jefferson, & George Washington were all racist, uneducated, dumb, & loud domestic terrorists? Methinks you have something against the US’ Founders…
I can think of two differences between MAGA folk and Al Qaeda to the founding fathers.
The first is the lack of cultish beliefs. MAGA, Q-Anon, etc have effectively deified Trump for some reason, and he's a personification for all the hatred and vitriol the adherents possess. Likewise, Al Qaeda's brand of Islam is pretty vile and violent as the cultishly follow their version of Allah. The founders were deists at best in general, and while they were flawed individuals, they weren't crazed supporters of a cult of personality or religious origins.
The second would be methods and targets. And this ties into why I think the phrase "one man's freedom fighter is another's terrorist" is wrong and inappropriate. Trying to peacefully gain self governance and then have a revolutionary war is markedly different than using intimidation and violence to try to seize power and targeting civilians.
I know cultists tend not to be really bright, but it's a pretty glaring difference.
Last time I heard, dumping Tea didn't actually harm people.

In that all three groups are terrorists.
No offence the people fighting in the revolutionary war were heroes and they were fighting for a good cause but they were depending on who you asked, terrorists.
