It is destroying the amicable relations between the white and Negro races that have been created through 90 years of patient effort by the good people of both races. It has planted hatred and suspicion where there has been heretofore friendship and understanding.

By “amicable relations” do you mean the abject submission of Blacks to White supremacy?

Blacks were supposed to “stay in their places.” They were not supposed to get ahead of white people. If they were walking on a sidewalk and a white person was approaching them on the same sidewalk, they had to get off the sidewalk.

Also everyone has heard of “back of the bus for black people.” Black people had to give up their seats for white people. If white person needed a seat, picture four black adults made to leave their seats. A white person could not have black people sitting across the aisle from them.

In Spoonbread and Strawberry Wine, a book about a history of an African American family and their family recipes, there is an account of family member who was a doctor for the black people in a small town. There was a white doctor for the white people in the same town. A white man hurt his arm and went the white doctor. He still had problems with arm, so he went to the black doctor, who did heal him. This outraged the white community, so the black doctor had to leave town, because he embarrassed the white doctor.

That last bit, like the mess in Tulsa, proves that White Supremacists know they are wrong but persist because the real reason for their bigotry is pure naked power tripping and bullying. They know deep down that black people are fully human and not a bunch of dimwitted and lazy rape - monsters… but they don’t care, because it’s about power, preferring people who look like themselves and having only themselves in charge.
