Not true. My wife was in the Navy, same as me. Submitting to an officer or a senior enlisted does not change your essence.
There IS no dignity in being enlisted, but that’s a completely separate issue. Had a few shipmates that looked forward to getting their self-respect back after retiring by blowing goats for a nickel a herd, or sucking the eggs out of chickens.
