If pipelines [as in the XL Keystone pipeline] don't pollute the air, why do liberals want trucks to pollute to get oil there?

No, we want to phase out fossil fuels out as soon as possible. Not only do they cause many kinds of severe environmental pollution, including being the primary cause of anthropogenic climate change, but even if they were not so harmful, they are not renewable and thus will inevitably run out, meaning that we will sooner or later have to look for alternatives anyways.
Because it turns out the jackasses building and operating the pipelines don’t want to keep up proper maintenance, and they’re pretty much constantly spilling oil everywhere … on someone else’s land, wouldn’t you know it?
Sure, you’ve a point there, lemme just put a fucking oil rig through the middle of your house… Not your fucking property dude, not the federal property in fact either, so y’know, fuck the eh off.
1. It's being run through Native American land and they don't want it there
2. I want the US to switch to renewable sources of energy and get weaned off fossil fuels. So no trucks either.
3. The Alberta tar sands are one of the most destructive, carbon intensive oils to be produced.
The pollution concerns about the pipeline are because of the possibility of leaks. When a pipeline leaks, it releases oil onto the ground, and if near water, contaminates it.
For anyone playing along at home, they Keystone Pipeline is already complete, running from Hardesty, Alberta to Houston, TX. The Dakota Access extension shortcut would have allowed the pipeline to enter the US through Montana instead of running all the way to Manitoba before entering the US, meaning that the pipeline would sooner reach lower latitudes be easier to access, inspect, and maintain.
So this argument - that it’d have to be run in trucks instead - is entirely baseless.
Confused?
