Fiction is LITERALLY things that are not based on reality. Maybe you want to explore what might have happened, the immediate consequences of an episode, or maybe someone can resolve an entire 1-hour episode by five minutes lecturing to two characters, or perhaps you would really like to see two characters having sex. It’s a little more work to write a fiction than it is to just take a Spider-Man and a Joker action figure and have them fight. But essentially the same thing.

But i don’t see what you’ve lost, you know? There’s the original source, and there’s fanfiction. I shipped Uhura, Chekov, and Sulu once. Takei being gay didn’t take anything away from that story. Sulu being gay in the reboots didn’t affect it at all.

During the lockdowns, a lot of people stuck at home learned to make bread. A woman who bakes and films it for her site had difficulty getting flour and yeast in time for her deadlines. She thought it would be more polite for people to leave HER needs the fuck alone, so she could do the money-making videos.
The general response to her plea was along the lines of ‘fuck off, you don’t own the concept of Baking.’
You don’t get to decide who i write about. You might influence it. If you comment on my stories with ’I’d really like to see Han and Leia more than Leia and Chewbaca’ I might try to please you. But if you just say, “I need Luke Left Alone!” I’m not going to respond well.
