There it is...the uncomfortable truth. Doesn't matter how you raise them or with what values.
With that on the table, what is the solution to unwanted pregnancies? Abstinence education? Good luck with that.
The obvious answer is giving them access to birth control and teaching them how NOT to get pregnant. And there's nothing stopping you from teaching your abstinence values at the same time, maybe you'll get lucky and have a child who resists teen sex.

So tell us all then how for thousands of previous years with no sex education or contraception the pregnancy rates among non married ladies stayed so low that the numbers were almost nonexistent? Yet since the 60's with sex education and contraception the numbers keep going up. You have bought a lie I suggest you do some research on your own and quit regergatating the same old lines that PP keeps repeating.

The numbers actually started increasing in the 40’s, but of course that doesn’t fit your “It WUZ the evil sexual revolution that caused it” agenda you got going on here, Off Shore: https://www.cdc.gov/nchs/data/nvsr/nvsr48/nvs48_16.pdf

CDC is of the opinion that the increase in unmarried pregnancies were caused by two factors; the Baby Boomer generation being much larger than previous generations, and an increase in the number of women who chose not to marry immediately because “that’s all a woman is good for, right”…

The funny thing is, the chart actually shows that sex education DOES help, considering the spike in the 60’s is followed by a drop in the 70’s (when sex education first started becoming a major thing), and then spiked again in the 80’s (Reagan and the Moral Majority fighting any discussion about sex anywhere, anyone?)

Weren't teenage pregnancies kept secret, girls would vanish for a couple months and child kept hidden? The numbers increased as stigma decreased because their were less reasons to hide things.

Also there was this thing called "child marriage." Not much chance to have a baby out of wedlock when you're fobbed off on a 30-year-old at puberty.

You don’t know what kind of “sex education” they had in the old days, they probably didn’t write a lot of that stuff down, it was passed on quietly. Certainly, extramarital pregnancies are nothing new, or royal bastards for that matter. Mostly the girls would be married off, or else some submitted to an illegal abortion, and sometimes died.

Sex education can be compared to teaching a kid to drive a car. If you tell them “No, never drive the car!”…well, even though it’s illegal under a certain age, they may have a go and have a carcrash. However, it’s different if you tell them how everything works. That’s why abstinence “education” is a joke.

People got married when they got pregnant, nitwit. Oh, and there WERE probably quite extensive sex-ed in many places; the old taught the young how not to get pregnant, and there were contraception methods back then too. Not as reliable as today’s but people have been using certain plants and fungi for hundreds of thousands of years, probably. Men have used bladders and intestines from animals, and skins from aborted or new-born animals.

In Jane Austen’s time, rich men who got not-so-rich women pregnant, often hid the mother and child away in some remote village, with enough money for the child to grow up relatively affluently. Those children were called “Natural children”.

Then we have the gruesome habit of sending the unmarried pregnant girls away to far-away nunneries to have their babies, work of the “debt” for room, board and childbirth, and then force the girls to go home again, without their children. The kids were either just killed off, or adopted.

People also hid their own pregnancies, and then put the newborn out in the woods to be eaten by animals. Ever hear the story Hansel and Gretel? Their parents took them into the woods to fend for themselves. It’s not just a fairy-tale, that’s what people did when they got “too many” kids; better to keep the bigger kids alive, than let all the family starve to death.

With sex-education and contraception, the numbers are fairly steady. It’s areas that DON’T have proper sex-ed nor access to contraception that have the high numbers of teen pregnancies. Ya know, areas like Alabama and Georgia. In Sweden, were I grew up, teen pregnancy wasn’t a thing. I can’t remember ANYONE disappearing or marrying suspiciously young. Having kids at 18 is VERY early over here.

You’re the one who bought the lie that no-one ever became pregnant out of wedlock before the 60’s.
