These dumb fucks think if you ban guns, no one will have a gun. That just creates a black market. I'm all for tougher background checks and making the selling of firearms safer but, that won't stop the 'bad guys' getting a gun. If they want a gun, they can get a gun, it will just cost them more.

i'm a socialist and if I lived in the late 1800s i'd probably be pushing for women's rights. equal rights for both genders sounds like a moral cause, and during a time when women had no power to inflict harm most forward-thinkers would probably assume that's their natural state. turned out to be a fucking disaster

Well, the problem here is not women, it is that dumbo peasant males were given rights, when for most of history they were held in chattel slavery. I mean, even most of their "rights" are not real rights, a real right is absolute, its contrary is a wrong, so, if you have a right to X, then it is wrong to deny you X, but the way modern liberal "rule of law" based states operate is that they tend to have a set of rights that people have, then they carve out either overt or covert "constitutional" exceptions to those rights.

Plus all rights are silent during war, because laws are silent during war, and rights are fictions of law.

So the real problem is focus on rights, which are fictions, rather than on physics---poetry about rights, gods, etc. can certainly be of value, but it's likely less valuable than a sound knowledge of physics.
