We all learned in elementary school that plants breathe carbon dioxide. No one has explained yet what negative effects carbon dioxide is having on “the climate.” They’ve just declared that this is a fact.

They aren’t really even talking about “global warming” anymore, because all of their graphs on temperature have been so wrong, and they’ve been forced to admit that the world is still at the end of an ice age, meaning weather should be warming anyway.

So now they’re just saying that like, carbon dioxide causes hurricanes and earthquakes.

More accurately, carbon dioxide gas is transparent to ultraviolet light, letting the sun’s energy through (as it should). The ultraviolet light fluoresces (that is, reflects at a longer wavelength) upon striking the surface of the earth. The fluorescent reflection is in the infrared range, of which carbon dioxide gas is opaque to. This is trapping more infrared energy within our atmosphere, leading to increasing temperatures.

They have always called it climate change. The term global warming is a popular science (i.e. not scientific) term that while it is still accurate (the gradual rise of average temperature) it isn't completely accurate (the climate also will have higher extremes both directions with shorter spring/fall weather).

As @ryu238 said, carbon dioxide helps to trap heat. If there are enough sources that consume the CO2, the Temps would be more stable. But because we not only are producing far more that can be processed, as well as killing off trees and things in the ocean that can process it, we have an unstable build up.

Just because you refuse to listen and/educate yourself doesn't mean no one explained it.

At this stage, these people aren't so much willfully ignorant as defiantly ignorant. They know the information is available, but they believe it will tarnish their soft little brains if they learn it.

So: that job interview at the US National Weather Service didn't work out for ya, eh Andrew Anglin...?!

It's a balance. We humans have been making fires for a long time, but it wasn't a climate change disaster because the trees balanced this out. But all those chimneys belching out smoke and CO2 since the Industrial Revolution AND cutting the forests down. . . We all live with the results.

I've been hearing about the "greenhouse effect" since I can remember, so this isn't anything new....
