The Scripture does not even envision married couples who choose not to have children. The shocking reality is that some Christians have bought into this lifestyle and claim childlessness as a legitimate option. The rise of modern contraceptives has made this technologically possible. But the fact remains that though childlessness may be made possible by the contraceptive revolution, it remains a form of rebellion against God's design and order.

Couples are not given the option of chosen childlessness in the biblical revelation. To the contrary, we are commanded to receive children with joy as God's gifts, and to raise them in the nurture and admonition of the Lord. We are to find many of our deepest joys and satisfactions in the raising of children within the context of the family. Those who reject children want to have the joys of sex and marital companionship without the responsibilities of parenthood. They rely on others to produce and sustain the generations to come.

I vaguely remember some early Christians bring against procreation because the end was coming?

The scripture was the propaganda of an old time, too. There was no medicine as we know it. Since these also come from patriarchal societies, women usually had little to say. Some even theorized that the virgin mary may also have been a story to prevent punishment, possibly by stoning, for cheating.

In the Jehovah's Witnesses although it depends on the family, people are pressed to dedicate their life to preaching and for young people remote missionary work, discouraging higher education, etc. Some couples indeed don't have kids, believing that "this world" is worthless for them and that the end is so near anyway. In the same cult, in the 70s some people sold or gave their belongings for a failed prophecy, then getting blamed as too zealous by the leaders (hypocritically evading responsibility for misleading them)...

At the same time it seems that some groups are apparently trying to populate in fear of a great replacement or to grow the ranks of their fundamentalist cult, etc. Then of course, they'll gladly quote mine a "fill the earth" verse of another people, while dismissing those about avoiding to pollute the earth...

People should be able to choose when and how many children they want. It’s better for everyone.

So what if some people have 0-2 kids? No big deal.

People being socially pressured to have children is something terrible IMO (*). It means that countless “couples” who aren’t in any way qualified, able, or willing to spend +/-20 years raising and nurturing other humans are forced to do so anyway. This is outright very damaging to a LOT of children, and certainly does not help with our resource shortages.

But like usual, you people don’t actually care about the well-being of children, do you?

(*)Should I hear people say “you should try having kids, you’ll see how fun it is!” or “we’re going for our third/fourth/fifth child!” I feel the urge to puch those people in the face. People like that really don’t get that having children is a huge responsibility not everyone is willing or able to handle, including themselves.

Scripture also didn’t envision nuclear weapons or vaccines or a heliocentric solar system. And yet, here we are!

The JWs believe that the "fire from heaven" of Revelation 13:13 might mean the nuclear bomb, but... :)

Some of us know that we wouldn't make good parents, and thus do not bring human beings we can't care for into the world. I think God should like that compassion, but I guess you patriarchal shits are more concerned with dudes getting to use uteri as production machines for soldiers, workers and breeders, as if we're nothing but ants.
