(=In response to Gal Gadot wishing for a peaceful resolution regarding Israel and Palestine, and for the violence to end on both ends.=)
this is your not so friendly reminder that Gal Gadot has openly supported the IDF and posted a picture with the hashtags “we are right” and “I love the IDF” following a bombing of Gaza that left innocent Palestinians - including children - dead.
She directly and openly supports a genocidal state that oppresses and strips rights away from Palestinians on a daily basis.
So fuck her, fuck her “I want my neighbors to be safe” narrative that is simply untrue based on her past actions, and fuck white feminists for trying to paint her as this “girlboss!!!!!!” because she plays Wonder Woman.

It’s fascinating that so many seem to view the whole conflict in such black and white colors, and it is also quite disturbing. The conflict between Palestine and Israel is a clusterfuck of epic proportions (pardon my language to describe such a horrific conflict like this but… well, it is!).
On the one side we have Israel, the only democratic state in the region, inhabited to a large degree by one of the most abused people in history, very militaristic, but clearly out of necessity, both partly secular and partly extremely religious (especially with the high number of orthodox jews, which are coincidentally not at all liked by more secular ones for trying to control the way of living in Israel), with a bunch of extreme right-wing settlers and parties who are racist towards the arab population of the state and are not at all interested in stopping the never-ending crisis (even going so far as to kill the one prime minister Israel had that might have been able to finally put the conflict to rest).
On the other side we have the Palestines, who mostly have to live precariously, especially in Gaza, who didn’t get to democratically vote for 15 years now, who are pretty much oppressed from within but feel like they have no choice but backing organisations like Hamas (which are basically leading a proxy war for Iran on the back of their people which is more about the constant power plays between it and the other muslim states in the region than it is about Israel) and are getting nearly nothing but scorn from either Israel, or from the arab states around them (Egypt certainly doesn’t seem to be particularly up for helping them). The ones in Gaza are never secure. The ones in West Jordan have it slightly better, but have to live with unfair restrictions on settlement, water etc. in favor of the (illegal) israeli settlers there. Many of them hate Isreal and constant propaganda as well as the ethnicist restrictions they have to deal with as well as their oppression from within causes many of them to think that while people like the Hamas are bad they are at least against the big bad enemy Israel (or they simply can’t speak out against the attacks on Israel in fear of retribution by the terrorist organisations).
Both parties are stuck because multiple groups inside them and some on the outside are very much interested in keeping the conflict going and at this point it really doesn’t matter who shot first, who is the first to blame, they are all suffering from this constantly repeating cycle. Religion (often a much lesser entity in this than people think, the religious narrative is just very convenient and easy to use to explain this conflict by people with certain political agendas), political power plays and ethnicism on both sides are what ultimately drives this conflict and what I just wrote is STILL a very very rough overview. So simply stating “Israel good, Palestine bad” or vice versa is intellectual laziness to the highest degree and only furthers the narratives the actual parties responsible for driving this conflict on the back of both Isreal AND Palestine use. I can only hope that as few people on either side die, that the conflict cools down again soon and that at some point in the future someone finally cuts this gordian knot of a clusterfuck (pardon me again) before even more people die.

Just a note:

That’s a bit imprecise, if not even a wrong way to classify them. In actuality, nearly all Jews in Israel — even the secular ones! — are Orthodox (unlike in, say, the US). What you’re speaking of is usually termed ultra-Orthodox , and they are indeed the most religiously fundamentalist Jews.

Indeed, sorry, my bad, I forgot about that fact. I don’t think that it changes that much in regards to the rest of my statement though.
Confused?
