The job of journalists is to check and then report the facts. It is NOT their job to push a political agenda by lying about the sex of the person committing crimes because they think they’re winning social justice points or something. At this point I no longer trust anything I read about a ‘woman’ committing a crime until I go into the article itself and read the comments – sometimes the media will include a photograph of the criminal so we can see the person is a biological male that does not happen very often.

I've seen it suggested elsewhere that the attacker might actually be a TIF, which would track with one of the victims identifying the attacker as a woman and with the rather female body shape of the attacker. (That's all I have to go on anyway. I haven't been able to find a good image of the suspect.) It'll be interesting to see if this is ever clarified as the case progresses.
