Candace Owens #wingnut news.com.au

“So I’m going to ask those same lecturing politicians and media members a question – when do we deploy troops to Australia? When do we invade Australia and free an oppressed people who are suffering under a totalitarian regime? When do we spend trillions of dollars to spread democracy in Australia?”
Owens claimed Australia was currently “a tyrannical police state” that was stripping away “the most basic of individual freedoms”, with citizens “quite literally being imprisoned against their will” and unable to leave the country.
“What is happening in Australia under the guise of this virus is federal overreach,” she said.
“Tyranny. Totalitarianism. The kind that gives birth to evil dictatorships and human atrocity. We are watching a replay of the early ambitions of Josef Stalin, Adolf Hitler, Fidel Castro, Hugo Chavez.”

Juliette Lewis #conspiracy news.com.au

JULIETTE Lewis has spoken out in support of Scientology, declaring that she has her own conspiracy theories over criticism the controversial religion has faced.

Speaking to The Daily Beast, Lewis also defended Scientology’s most famous proponent Tom Cruise who has copped a barrage of flak due to his involvement in the religion.
The actress used Cruise’s infamous 2005 interview with Matt Lauer — where he had an angry debate with the US television host over the misuse of pharmaceutical drugs — to make her point.
“I’ll get all conspiratorial on you, and I’m just going to throw this out,” Lewis said.

“The mainstream media is funded by pharmaceutical companies, so when you have the biggest movie star in the world at the time — Tom Cruise — coming out against antidepressants and Ritalin and just saying, ‘Hey, why don’t you put a warning label on there?’”“The thing about Scientology is it is anti-drug in that you’re seeking relationship or communication tools — simple basics on how to live better,” she said.
“So, when Tom came out about that, I’ve never seen someone get torn down so hard, and they still brutalise him with Scientology pieces to this day.”
Still, much was made of Cruise’s palpable anger at the time rather than just his opinion.

Lauer later said that he felt Cruise was going through “a weird time in his life and career” when the interview took place, while the actor is said to have later apologised to the television personality for being “arrogant”.
Lewis — who has spoken out in support of the religion before — described Scientology as a “religious philosophy and self-help movement”, but claimed there will never be “a truthful word written about it in mainstream media”.

Queensland Religous Instructors #fundie news.com.au

Fundamentalist Christians are hijacking Religious Instruction (RI) classes in Queensland despite education experts saying Creationism and attempts to convert children to Christianity have no place in state schools.

Students have been told Noah collected dinosaur eggs to bring on the Ark, and Adam and Eve were not eaten by dinosaurs because they were under a protective spell.

Critics are calling for the RI program to be scrapped after claims emerged Christian lay people are feeding children misinformation.

About 80 per cent of children at state primary schools attend one half-hour instruction a week, open to any interested lay person to conduct.

...A parent of a Year 5 student on the Sunshine Coast said his daughter was ostracised to the library after arguing with her scripture teacher about DNA.

"The scripture teacher told the class that all people were descended from Adam and Eve," he said.

"My daughter rightly pointed out, as I had been teaching her about DNA and science, that 'wouldn't they all be inbred'?

"But the teacher replied that DNA wasn't invented then."

Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia #fundie news.com.au

AUSTRALIAN nurses are pushing back against a change that requires them to “acknowledge white privilege” before treating patients.

Nurses and midwives around the country must now adhere to a new code of conduct with a section specifically dedicated to “culture” and which details white Australians’ inherent privilege “in relation to Aboriginal and Torres Straight Islanders”.

The new code, which came into effect in March, has been labelled “eye-watering”, “cultural madness” and “unacceptable”. A peak body representing nurses in Queensland is even calling for the chairman of the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia to be sacked over it.

“This is eye-watering stuff,” Graeme Haycroft from the Nurses Professional Association of Queensland told Sky News host Peta Credlin.

“We’re calling for the resignation of the chairman of the board (Associate Professor Lynette Cusack) because she’s put her name to it and it’s unacceptable.”

Credlin called it “almost too hard to believe”. “Before (a midwife) delivers a baby to an indigenous woman she’s supposed to put her hands up and say: ‘I need to talk to you about my white privilege’, not about my infection control, my qualifications or my training as a midwife?” she asked Mr Haycroft.

He said that was correct, but there’s no requirement to “announce” anything. The nurses must simply abide by the new code which state clearly that “cultural safety is as important to quality care as clinical safety”.

“Cultural safety ... requires nurses and midwives to undertake an ongoing process of self-reflection and cultural self-awareness, and an acknowledgment of how a nurse’s/midwife’s personal culture impacts on care,” the code reads.

“In relation to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health, cultural safety provides a decolonising model of practice based on dialogue, communication, power sharing and negotiation, and the acknowledgment of white privilege.

“These actions are a means to challenge racism at personal and institutional levels, and to establish trust in healthcare encounters.”

Mr Haycroft said the code was hastily approved with little consultation.

“It’s all of Australia. There’s 350,000 nurses and midwives Australia-wide and they’re all now subject to this new code,” he said.

“We put a little survey on our website and we asked nurses whether they agreed with the code of conduct. Just over 50 per cent of our members have said ‘this is wrong, do something about it, fight it for us’.”

The Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia released a statement on March 1 asking nurses and midwives to “reflect on how the news of conduct relate to their practice”.

“These codes provide a foundation for safe practice and give guidance on crucial issues such as bullying and harassment, professional boundaries and cultural safety. Nurses and midwives need to meet the standards set in these codes, even if their employer also has a code of conduct,” Professor Cusack said.

Nurses and midwives fought the board in November last year when it was revealed a draft of the new code of conduct replaced references to “woman-centred care” with “person-centred care”.

“Midwife means with woman,” UniSA midwifery professor Mary Steen told the Adelaide Advertiser. “The woman is at the centre of a midwife’s scope of practice, which is based on the best available evidence to provide the best care and support to meet individual women’s health and wellbeing needs.”

Professor Alison Kitson, vice president and executive dean of the College of Nursing and Health Sciences at Flinders University, agreed.

“Retaining the ‘woman-centred’ term is important to remind us all that our care is focused on the women and the significant life-changing experience they are about to have,” she said.

On social media, users called the new code “stupid”.

“To think that it will help a person with indigenous blood if nurses would acknowledge their ‘white privilege’,” one woman wrote. “This is basically labelling of victims and oppressors by race. How embarrassing for Australia.”

Julius Malema, Cyril Ramaphosa and Gugile Nkwinti #racist news.com.au

SOUTH Africa’s parliament has voted in favour of a motion that will begin the process of amending the country’s Constitution to allow for the confiscation of white-owned land without compensation. The motion was brought by Julius Malema, leader of the radical Marxist opposition party the Economic Freedom Fighters, and passed overwhelmingly by 241 votes to 83 against. The only parties who did not support the motion were the Democratic Alliance, Freedom Front Plus, Cope and the African Christian Democratic Party.

It was amended but supported by the ruling African National Congress and new president Cyril Ramaphosa, who made land expropriation a key pillar of his policy platform after taking over from ousted PM Jacob Zuma earlier this month. “The time for reconciliation is over. Now is the time for justice,” Mr Malema was quoted by News24 as telling parliament. “We must ensure that we restore the dignity of our people without compensating the criminals who stole our land.”

According to Bloomberg, a 2017 government audit found white people owned 72 per cent of farmland in South Africa.

ANC deputy chief whip Dorries Eunice Dlakude said the party “recognises that the current policy instruments, including the willing-buyer willing-seller policy and other provisions of Section 25 of the Constitution may be hindering effective land reform”. ANC rural affairs minister Gugile Nkwinti added, “The ANC unequivocally supports the principle of land expropriation without compensation. There is no doubt about it, land shall be expropriated without compensation.”

Thandeka Mbabama from the Democatic Alliance party, which opposed the motion, said there was a need to right the wrongs of the past but expropriation “cannot be part of the solution”. “By arguing for expropriation without compensation, the ANC has been gifted the perfect scapegoat to explain away its own failure,” she said in a statement. “Making this argument lets the ANC off the hook on the real impediments — corruption, bad policy and chronic underfunding. Expropriation without compensation would severely undermine the national economy, only hurting poor black people even further.”

Pieter Groenewald, leader of the Freedom Front Plus party representing the white Afrikaner minority, asked what would happen to the land once it was expropriated. “If you continue on this course, I can assure you there is going to be unforeseen consequences that is not in the interest of South Africa,” he said.

Cope leader Mosiuoa Lekota said there was a “danger that those who think equality in our lifetime equates that we must dominate whites”, News24 reported. Mr Malema has been leading calls for land confiscation, forcing the ANC to follow suit out of fear of losing the support of poorer black voters. In 2016, he told supporters he was “not calling for the slaughter of white people‚ at least for now”.

Civil rights groups have accused the EFF and ANC of inciting an ongoing spate of attacks on white farmers characterised by extreme brutality, rape and torture — last year, more than 70 people were killed in more than 340 such attacks. Ernst Roets, deputy chief executive of civil rights group Afriforum, said the parliamentary motion was a violation of the 1994 agreement in which the ANC promised minority interests would be protected post-apartheid.

“This motion is based on a distorted image of the past,” Mr Roets said in a statement. “The term ‘expropriation without compensation’ is a form of semantic fraud. It is nothing more than racist theft.”

He earlier hit out at “simply deceitful” claims that “white people who own land necessarily obtained it by means of oppression, violence or forced removals”. “The EFF’s view on redistribution is merely a racist process to chase white people off their land and establish it within the state,” he said. “This is not only deceiving, but also a duplication of the economic policies that the world’s worst economies put in place.”

Afriforum said it would take its fight to the United Nations if necessary. The matter has been referred to the parliament’s Constitutional Review Committee, which must report back by August 30. Earlier this month, Louis Meintjes, president of the farmers’ group the Transvaal Agricultural Union, warned the country risked going down the same route as Zimbabwe, which plunged into famine after a government-sanctioned purge of white farmers in the 2000s.

“Where in the world has expropriation without compensation coupled to the waste of agricultural land, resulted in foreign confidence, economic growth and increased food production?” Mr Meintjes said. “If Mr Ramaphosa is set on creating an untenable situation, he should actively create circumstances which will promote famine. His promise to expropriate land without compensation, sows the seed for revolution. Expropriation without compensation is theft”.

Donald Trump reveals frustration with Ivanka over Roy Moore sexual harassment scandal

A RIFT has formed between Donald Trump and his daughter Ivanka over her views on sexual harassment, a White House insider says.

SHE’S usually the apple of his eye, but Ivanka Trump has angered her father as they take opposing views on Alabama senator Roy Moore’s sexual harassment allegations.

President Trump continues to support the Republican candidate despite nine women accusing him of sexual harassment or molestation in the 1970s, including one woman who was 14 at the time — Moore was 32.

Earlier this month when asked about Moore, Ivanka told the Associated Press:“There’s a special place in hell for people who prey on children.”

“I’ve yet to see a valid explanation and I have no reason to doubt the victims’ accounts,” she said.

Now the New York Timesreports President Trump was irritated upon learning of his daughter’s comments, “venting” to several aides in the Oval Office.

“Do you believe this?” he asked the staffers, clearly exasperated, the White House source said.

President Trump offered up another tacit endorsement of alleged sexual molester Roy Moore in a tweet overnight by blasting his Democratic opponent in the Alabama Senate race as a “Schumer/Pelosi puppet.”

“The last thing we need in Alabama and the U.S. Senate is a Schumer/Pelosi puppet who is WEAK on Crime, WEAK on the Border, Bad for our Military and our great Vets, Bad for our 2nd Amendment, AND WANTS TO RAISES TAXES TO THE SKY,” Trump posted, referring to the Democratic leadership of Rep. Nancy Pelosi and Sen. Chuck Schumer.

“Jones would be a disaster!” said Trump, referring to candidate Doug Jones.

The tweet left Republican Senator Lindsay Graham questioning why the president would “throw a lifeline” to a candidate facing serious sexual assault accusations.

“That’s a political decision by the president. He’s definitely trying to throw a lifeline to Roy Moore,” Graham of South Carolina said on CNN’s State of the Union.

”If he wins, we get the baggage of him winning and it becomes a story every day about whether or not you believe the women or Roy Moore,” Graham said. “Should he stay in the Senate should he be expelled? If you lose, you give the Senate seat to the Democrat at a time when we need all the votes we can get.”

”What I would tell President Trump: if you think winning with Roy Moore is going to be easy for the Republican Party, you’re mistaken,” he said.

Trump’s tweet is the second time in a week that he has implicitly endorsed Moore.

Last week as Trump left the White House to head to his exclusive Florida resort Mar-a-Lago for the thanksgiving holiday he said Moore, 70, has denied the allegations.

”He denies it. Look, he denies it,” Trump said of Moore. “If you look at all the things that have happened over the last 48 hours. He totally denies it. He says it didn’t happen. And look, you have to look at him also.”

Kerrie-Ann Thornton #conspiracy #ufo news.com.au

Former nurse Kerrie-Ann Thornton, 37, says her first alleged encounter with an extraterrestrial took place when a dark figure suddenly appeared from the back seat of her car as she was driving on a Sydney highway. Ms Thornton now dedicates her life to serving "the greys", a "peaceful alien species” she claims to have a contract with. As a self professed psychic medium and telepathic communicator, she says she also has contact with other alleged "alien races" including the Draconians, Reptilians, Annunaki and Illuminati. Ms Thornton, from Harrington Park, is one of thousands of people around the world who believe in the existence of these so-called extraterrestrial creatures which she claims talk directly to her.

[…]

"My job and my business is to deliver messages for the ET's ... it's up to you what you do with those messages."

About 12 people, men and women, pay a $20 entry fee and file into the small function room to watch Ms Thornton become possessed by aliens and deliver messages to them on a sunny Sunday afternoon in March.

They meet in an old country-style motel, tucked behind a used car sales business in Campbelltown, on the outskirts of western Sydney.

"You are invited to ask questions about anything, the ET’s themselves, life, the universe, etc and the ET's will answer all questions," a pamphlet advertising the seminar reads.

[…]

She warns that "everyone will be running for the door" in the second half of her seminar when she becomes possessed or if the aliens decide to appear in the room.

"I'm told they’re going to put on a big show," she tells news.com.au.

"They’re calling it 'the Awakening'. They're going to make a statement."

"I won't remember the second half after it’s happened."

Guests are told there is nothing to fear and advised not to be alarmed if they "feel something touch (their) shoulder" or if the medium starts levitating.

"There are 30 plus ET’s in this room right now ... invisible," Ms Thornton says.

"They're invisible."

Metropolitan Kornily #fundie news.com.au

(You'd think Russia, of all places, would be familiar with the concept of bears.)

Homosexuality isn’t catching. But clearly no one told the priest who has said straight men should grow full and bushy beards to prevent them from accidentally swapping sexualities.
Metropolitan Kornily, Primate of the Russian Orthodox Old Believer Church, may not want to visit any of the gay bars on Sydney’s Oxford Street — fulsome facial hair is totally on trend right now.
Kornily, who last month met up with Russian President Vladimir Putin, lamented that beards had fallen out of fashion.
“God set down certain rules. The Lord created everyone with a beard. No man can resist his creator,” Kornily told Russia’s National News Service. “It’s made a monstrous thing to see men’s clothing and hairstyles changing.”

The beard had almost “completely disappeared from the Catholic West,” he added, surely a nod to the clean shaven Pope Francis.
Kornily said Russian men should refrain from the razor to “protect themselves from homosexuality,” reported the Moscow Times.

Pauline Hanson: ‘Go buy non-Halal Easter eggs’

Megan Palin, news.com.au @megan_palin

PAULINE Hanson has urged Australians to buy “non-halal” Easter eggs and boycott brands that offer halal-certified products, including Cadbury.

The One Nation Senator made the appeal in a video posted to her Facebook page on Tuesday morning, in line with the party’s stance that buying halal-certified products equates to “financially supporting the Islamisation of Australia”.

Ms Hanson said one of the “biggest complaints” she has received since being elected was about halal certification.

“We see these products out there that are actually halal-certified, Cadbury chocolate for instance, halal-certified,” Ms Hanson said in the video.

News.com.au has contacted Cadbury, which sells several Halal certified products including Easter eggs, for comment.

Ms Hanson went on to plug Cadbury’s competitors including Lindt and Darrell Lea.

“If you want to get product that’s not Halal certified I’d suggest Lindt,” she said.

“And another great one is Darrell Lea, an Australian company not Halal certified.”

“Halal” is the Arabic word for “permissible”, and defines the food that Muslims are allowed to eat.

Halal certification indicates that a product does not contain traces of alcohol, blood or pork — all forbidden in Islam — and can be consumed by Muslims under Islamic religious rules.

It also applies to the way an animal is slaughtered, meaning animals are pre-stunned, but still alive when their throats are cut, so that the blood leaves their bodies.

But for some people and groups, including Reclaim Australia, halal certification is a “religious tax” and a sign that Australia is becoming increasingly “Islamified”.

Ms Hanson said some companies were “misleading” consumers by “not printing (‘halal-certified’) on the wrappers”. She informed supporters the information can instead be found on company websites and urged them to shop for Easter products at local newsagents.

“Go and buy some non-halal Easter eggs and chocolate and have a very happy Easter everyone,” she said.

Many other Australian staples including Vegemite, Bega cheese and Kellogg’s cereals are also halal-certified. As is most bread, milk, cereals and at least 80 per cent of chicken processed Down Under.

Worldwide, the halal market is valued at $2.1 trillion. In Australia, it is worth about $8.5 billion, $1.5 billion of which is in the meat sector.

Ms Hanson told viewers she was still waiting on answers to questions she put on notice to the government about how it was going to respond to recommendations handed down by the third party certification of food inquiry in December 2015.

“They’ve got 30 days to answer the question,” she said.

Shane Warne #conspiracy news.com.au

SHANE Warne reveals some rather unorthodox views on evolution in tonight’s episode of I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here — namely, that modern human life is the result of alien experimentation on monkeys.

“If we’ve evolved from monkeys, then why haven’t those ones evolved?” Warne asks in a clip from tonight’s episode, prompting a half-hearted “Yeah ...” from fellow contestant Bonnie Lythgoe.

“Cos I’m saying: Aliens. We started from aliens,” Warne continues.

“Look at those pyramids, Bonnie. You couldn’t do ‘em. You couldn’t pull those huge bits of brick and make it perfectly symmetrical ... couldn’t do it. So who did it?”

“Has to be from another world, has to be,” says Lythgoe, apparently warming to the idea that Warne is the Fox Mulder of the cricketing world.

“Whatever planet they’re on out there, they decided that they were gonna start some more life here on earth and study us,” Warne states, as if this were a proven fact.

“Scientifically, we have so many similarities to monkeys, so I don’t know ... yeah,” Lythgoe offers, leading Warne to deliver his piece de resistance:

“Maybe they turned a few monkeys into humans and said ‘Yeah, it works’.”

Maori Family #fundie news.com.au

A FAMILY of nine accused of an exorcism-style manslaughter have denied being guilty of ending the life of a 22-year-old woman.
The six women and three New Zealand men have pleaded not guilty in New Zealand's High Court to the manslaughter of Janet Moses during an indigenous Maori curse-lifting ceremony, known as a makutu.

Moses drowned in October 2007 when water was poured down her throat as part of the ceremony in the town of Wainuiomata, near Wellington, reports the New Zealand Herald.

The ten accused had applied to have their names suppressed, but this morning Justice Simon France ruled that name suppression would be lifted at midday tomorrow for those charged with manslaughter.

In court yesterday, prosecutor Kate Feltham said that Moses' behaviour had changed after her grandmother died, several months before the exorcism.

The curse-lifting ceremony started with prayers but became more intense, with family members shouting "get out" and "leave her alone" in an attempt to purge the evil spirits, Feltham said.

"Several people also leant over Janet, placed their mouths over her eyeballs and tried to suck at her eyes in an attempt to remove the curse," she said.

POLICE have arrested 49 people this week in a northern Iranian city during a crackdown on "satanic" clothes, according to an IRNA news agency report.
The measures are the latest in a country-wide campaign against Western cultural influence in the Islamic Republic, where strict dress codes are enforced.

"Police confronted rascals and thugs who appeared in public wearing satanic fashions and unsuitable clothing," Qaemshahr city police commander Mahmoud Rahmani told IRNA.

Mr Rahmani also said that five barber shops were shut and 20 more warned for "promoting Western hairstyles".

In the past, such crackdowns have lasted a few weeks or months, but the current campaign was launched in 2007 and has not let up.

It includes measures against men sporting spiky "Western" hairstyles or women wearing tight trousers and high boots.

Unknown #fundie news.com.au

A JORDANIAN man slowly strangled his 16-year-old married sister, using wire and the girl's scarf, after she visited a female friend because he had to "cleanse family honour".

After jailing the unidentified 20-year-old man for seven years, Judge Hassan Amayreh said: "It took him 30 minutes to strangle his sister to death with a metal wire and her own scarf."

The girl, who had been married for six months, died in January in the Gaze refugee camp in the town of Jerash, north of the capital.

"I handed down the defendant a 15-year sentence on Sunday, but his family gave up their legal rights and the sentence was reduced," Hassan Amayreh said.

In such cases in Jordan, if family members drop charges against those who carry out the crime, a court usually commutes or reduces sentences.

Amayreh said the brother "has confessed, and claimed that he killed his sister to cleanse his family's honour after her husband complained that she regularly disappeared from home without a reason".

Girls under 18 can legally get married in Jordan.

"She was killed six months after her marriage, and investigations proved that she was visiting her female friend, and not somebody else," the judge said.

In Jordan, between 15 and 20 women are murdered annually in the name of "honour." Last year around 17 such killings were recorded.

Perpetrators get reduced sentences as parliament has refused to reform the penal code to ensure harsher sentences, despite campaigns by local and international human rights activists.

Kingdom of Yahweh #fundie news.com.au

A RELIGIOUS sect has declared itself above Australian law and the constitution.

Members of the Kingdom of Yahweh, based in Melbourne's northern suburbs, refuse to register their vehicles, get a driver's licence or register guns.

They even manufacture their own number plates.

Victoria Police Inspector Ewan McDonald said there was a "relatively small number of people who have this peculiar view".

"They don't regard themselves subject to the laws of the state of Victoria . . . they're quite openly frank about their point of view," Insp McDonald said.

"We treat them as any other ordinary member of the public."

Insp McDonald dismissed claims members booby-trapped their number plates, but did say the plates were dangerous because they were poorly made with very sharp edges.

He said it was important to remember the group did not preach violence, did not plan to overthrow the Government and was not associated with any terrorist organisation.

"They act in their own interesting view of the world, they actually regard themselves as quite law abiding, it's just that they don't accept the sovereignty of the Parliament as you or I would," he said.

"People who express these interests and feelings have been coming to police attention for a long time, they've just proceeded as ordinary members of the public."

Facts about the Kingdom of Yahweh:

* Followers of Yahweh are disparate and not involved in one international group. In the US there are many different groups, some calling themselves either the Kingdom of Yahweh or House of Yahweh.

* It is not known when the Kingdom of Yahweh began in Australia.

Followers of Yahweh's Kingdom believe:

- Yahweh (also spelt Yahuah) is the true name of God.

- They are the keepers of the Ten Commandments and Yahweh's laws are "written on our hearts and minds".

- Yahweh's laws are more demanding than any man-made government laws, and his punishments and rewards far greater.

- They are subject only to Yahweh's holy government.

- The new world order represents all that is unholy unto Yahweh.

- Governments were made by man's hands and should therefore be opposed.

- If you carry a government identification card, it is prima-facie evidence you are a corporation and subject to the government.

- You cannot serve two masters - Yahweh and the government.

Tony Golossian #fundie news.com.au

A SYDNEY court has heard how a bogus spiritual leader charged with a string of sexual assaults allegedly faked a heart attack in an attempt to avoid facing court last week on 150 sex offences.

Tony Golossian, 61, is the accused mastermind of a string of sexual assaults allegedly committed from 2001 to 2005.

Golossian, of Dulwich Hill, is accused of luring a then 23-year-old bank employee to a Summer Hill motel in early 2001 with claims he could cure a "black magic" curse placed on the woman's family.

Police statements tendered in Parramatta Local Court yesterday claim Golossian told the woman - who cannot be named - her 15-year-old sister would develop breast cancer and that her "fallopian tubes would no longer function" if the woman refused to participate in the rituals.

Police allege Golossian drugged, blindfolded and sexually assaulted the woman at four motels in Sydney and one on the Central Coast over a four-year-period.

Islamic cleric Abu Bakar Bashir #fundie news.com.au

ISLAMIC cleric Abu Bakar Bashir has returned to his hardline rhetoric with a call for followers to beat up Western tourists and for young Muslims to die as martyrs.

In the sermon, organised by an Islamic youth organisation and delivered a few kilometres from the home village of convicted Bali bombers Amrozi and Mukhlas, Bashir likened tourists in Bali to "worms, snakes, maggots", and specifically referred to the immorality of Australian infidels.

The address was caught on video by an Australian university student.

"The youth movement here must aspire to a martyrdom death," said the cleric, who was convicted of conspiracy over the 2002 Bali bombings that killed 202 people, including 88 Australians, but was later cleared and released from prison.

"The young must be first at the front line - don't hide at the back. You must be at the front, die as martyrs and all your sins will be forgiven. This is how to achieve forgiveness."

Mr Towle railed against those he claimed were demonising his son, including the parents of the six teenagers killed in the crash for which his son was found guilty of dangerous driving.

"Those parents said Tom had no respect for the law. If you take the emotion out of it, those teenagers had no respect for the law."

"They're single parents . . . those kids tend to be more disruptive. I know more about those kids than you do."

...[Thomas] Towle, 36, was found not guilty of culpable driving but guilty of six counts of dangerous driving causing death after he veered into the teenagers at Cardross, near Mildura, two years ago.

Graham Towle, a Pentecostal Christian who believes the end of the world is coming, has "Touched by the road toll" stickers on his car.

He blamed the teenagers, their families, the road conditions, the car suspension and God's vengeance for the carnage.

Mr Towle, who drives B-double trucks and carries a metal-covered Bible with him, credited prayer for his son's escaping conviction on six charges of culpable driving causing death, which carry 20-year maximum sentences.

"Whose fault? Why does a volcano blow up? Why does a plane crash? It's sin!" he said.

It was not clear exactly what Olusase had done that angered the students.

Police confirmed the killing and said their intervention had prevented the incident from turning into a riot.

"We have received information that a female teacher has been lynched by her students. We are investigating the report," Gombe state police commissioner Joseph Ibi said.

At least five people were killed and several churches burned down in February 2006 in the neighbouring state of Bauchi by Muslims infuriated that a Christian teacher in a secondary school had tried to confiscate a Koran from a student who was reading it during class.

Word got out into the streets that the teacher had desecrated the Koran, infuriating Muslims who went on the rampage.

At least 15,000 people have died in religious, communal and political violence in Africa's most populous country since 1999, when Nigeria returned to democracy after 30 years of almost unbroken military rule.

A LEADING Muslim cleric has blamed the devastating drought, climate change and pollution on Australians' lack of faith in Allah.

Radical sheik Mohammed Omran told followers at his Brunswick mosque that out-of-control secular scientific values had caused environmental disaster.

"The fear of Allah is not there. So we have now a polluted earth, a polluted water, a wasteland," he told a meeting this year.

"What are the people now crying for? The prophet told you hundreds of years ago, 'Look after the water'."

The Georgia department of education today upheld a decision by the county board that would allow the wildly popular series by British author J.K. Rowling to remain in school libraries, Gwinnett school system spokesman Jorge Quintana said.

In October 2005, Laura Mallory, a mother with children at Gwinnett elementary schools, asked a local committee to ban the books about a young wizard, saying they were violent and promoted witchcraft.

The application was denied, so she appealed her case before different local and state officials.

"At all levels the decision has been to keep the books on the shelves," Mr Quintana said.

The state board decided the matter on a technicality, ruling that Gwinnett acted within its legal authority, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution website.

"I didn't do a good enough legal job because I didn't hire a lawyer," it quoted Ms Mallory as saying.

[After smoking pot with his friend, getting in an argument with him about religion, "defending God and saying that he was our creator," storming off, getting his bow and arrow, firing at point blank range into the chest of a man pleading for his life after saying "You better apologise to our Lord or I'll fucking kill you," then brow beating a witness into stabbing him in the leg and placing the knife in the dead man's hand so he could claim self defense, he then had this to say to the victim's mother after being found guilty:]

Mr Alihromic's mother, I apologise from my heart sincerely. I didn't mean to take your son's life. I hope you can forgive me.
