Democrat politicians don't care if Democrat voters want voter ID. They are supposed to be Your Representative, meaning the votes they cast should
"Represent" their constituents. Why are they so against it?

Current voter id schemes are just attempts by Republicans to invalidate as many Democrats as possible. Requirements such as the name on the id match the name on the person’s birth certificate effect more women then men and thus statistically more Democrats then Republicans.
In any case, this sort of change needs to be implemented years before enforcement to give legal voters a chance to get the correct id. You can see how bogus the Republican’s attempt is in that rather then fix the obvious problems with their proposal and try to get it past congress, they are just complaining.

Research voter suppression laws used against black citizens and understand that voter ID requirements are more of the same, now aimed at Democrats.
