Pronouns are basically used to control other people's thought processes, to instill both a sense of fear (OMG, what if I misgender someone!) and a false sense of security in them (I respect their pronouns, that means I am a good and aware person and the twanzes see me as an ally).

Did you get to read that essay that was being passed around some years ago titled "Pronouns are Rohypnol" or something to that effect? I think I still have the archived link somwhere, I'll look it up later.

Not really. It’s just basic courtesy. If someone named Zarathustra would prefer to be called ‘Mike,’ then it’s a dick move to insist on Zarathustra at every opportunity.
If someone presents as a woman, gives her name as a woman, then whether or not you BELIEVE she’s a woman, it’s a dick move to call her ‘He.’

I’ve done that. Someone i’ve worked with for a while is transitioning. I make mistakes. “Oh, whoops. Sorry.”
And they say, ’It’s fine.’ They realize it’s a habit that’s got to change.

Do they really think they can depend on you in a transgender identity crisis? Or do they just want you not to be a dick?

I know a Catholic who got divorced and remarried and the other Catholics at work refer to her by her newest husband’s name, even though the Church insists she’s still mrs. First Husband.

If you can't handle the devastating emotional stress of selecting the correct gender pronoun for somebody, just use the plural "they, them."

I think that thing about "fear: is the real issue for conservatives. They want to find safety and security in conformity, and being seen as "wrong" fills them with a crippling fear. But also they have the EQ of a particularly stupid goose, so they project all of that outwards
