A minority elected Donald Fart because Hillary Clinton won the Popular Vote. That minority allowed a 'president' who in turn has allowed pro-LGBT legislation to exist since.

There are checks and balances in place to stop the Majority from persecuting the Minority.

A large majority wanted equality and human right to be for ALL people, not just for the privileged. THAT is why all kinds of consensual sex between adults are now legal.

There are probably just as many “queers” as there have always been. They just don’t have to hide from the government who they are now. Sadly, they are still persecuted by homophobes, and many still hide their orientation from other people.

Equality began when progress showed that “sodomy” can’t be defined as a disease, without also defining heterosexuality as a disease. Later, it was argued that either ALL anal and oral sex had to be made illegal, not just that between two men or two women, or it should ALL be legal. As most people who have anal/oral are heterosexual, and probably wanted to keep on having whatever kind of sex they desired, ALL forms of consensual sex were made legal.

Laws are not imposed by the majority, they're imposed by the legislative branch, which is supposed to be representative of the majority. And typically in the case of something being legalized, it's not a matter of a new law, it's an old one being repealed.

Don't they teach people this kind of thing in high school, at least? Fuck, I think someone could get a better understanding of how the government works than some conservative homophobes just by watching all of those old "Schoolhouse Rock" cartoons.

Sorey pal, sodomy was, is and always will be about being an abusive asshat towards outsiders, not buttsex like homophobes like to argue. The modern day evangelicals act far, FAR more like the biblical sodamites and gommorans than they ever will admit.

Do you really need a law, to tell you not to have sex with another man? Sounds really poofy, because most red-blooded straight men, most certainly DON’T.

Rights are agreed upon before laws so that laws don’t get used as a tool to create a tyranny of the majority. Laws criminalizing homosexuality were seen as in opposition to the rights everyone was supposed to have. The prevention of a tyranny of the majority is something I’m sure you would come to appreciate if you found yourself one of those people shrieking about “demographic changes” completely reshaping politics and fearing it might allow for the criminalization of things you take for granted. Like maybe owning a dog or having side of bacon with your breakfast. Or being able to pray openly.
