Amazon's Lord of The Rings: The Rings of Power confirmed to fans that the series will indeed include female orcs. Is this another nail in the shows coffin and a confirmation that it will be exactly as woke as we've feared?

a ‘woke’ LOTR would involve diplomatic solutions, finding common ground with trolls, and a reduction in sword proliferation.

Unless Sauron is cloning orcs, nature dictates they have to come from somewhere - and unless they're hermaphrodites, that 'somewhere' is usually female. That's not "woke"; it's biology.

According to Tolkien’s own notes, Orcs are corrupted Elves. And we’ve seen female Elves…

I might actually have an issue with this if they try to make orcish or goblin society egalitarian. Both of those races are ruled by the powerful through force. The elven society in the books is already as woke as you can get though, it’s obviously not alien to Tolkien or the world.

Where do you think all those orcs come from? Of course there are female orcs, dipshit. Hell, some of the orcs in the original movies probably were female and it just wasn't obvious. It's fucking tiring that "women exist" is apparently too much of a controversial statement now.

Like Dybbuk said, the Orks from TLoR aren’t like the Jem’Hadar from DS9; that is, artificially-bred and mass-cloned minions. Tolkien Orcs do have females, afaik.

And I’m not even talking about Warcraft Orcs most certainly having female members. Tall, green, muscular, buxom, badass females… Ahem.

Now, if you were talking about the Darkspawn from Dragon Age (who do have stuff in common with Tolkien Orcs), you MIGHT have a point, as the lore does state that female Darkspawn are much rarer and are exclusively used as broodmothers to create more footsoldiers and are therefore not used as soldiers themselves.

Rule 63: a concept that existed before but a few years ago.
