None of the comments here express support for Antifa. Furthermore, there are plenty of posters who have been making comments in explicit support for Antifa for years. In other words, neither the “finally showing” nor “poorly concealed” parts are true.

Also, FSTDT users are a heterogenous group, and we do not all hold the same positions and opinions. I am no fan of “antifa” - nevertheless, the extreme fear-mongering from the far Right is not justified, especially since the Far Right itself is far more violent, far more evil in its goals and a far more real threat. The Republican Party, at the very latest since Trump, is indeed unambigiously fascistic and needs to be opposed firmly.

In practice antifa is not merely being against fascism, it’s a violent radical left movement that routinely engages in property destruction, both public and private, and its targets are rarely fascists. It’s not “literally Satan” but if you can’t firmly condemn it or worse cheer it, maybe even join it, there’s not much hope for you.

WBC celebrates whenever anything bad happens to… pretty much anyone. They will even rub it in by protesting your funeral and they’ll call it fair because you’re part of a country that allows freedom for homosexuals.

When you support antifa you’re supporting communists and their useful idiots, you’re supporting lawless thugs who will maim people for life and will destroy their place of business and they’ll call it fair because you’re part of a country that allows capitalism i.e. people doing whatever they want with their earned property.

Now nothing is a perfect apples to apples comparison, but it’s hard to get any scummier than celebrating or even causing the misfortune of someone all because you hate the system.

It’s not a surprise you don’t like Trump, but what he said about antifa is more or less accurate. I would have said it’s a terrorist movement rather than an organization and that’s a trivial distinction. Assume for a moment someone other than Trump said the exact same statement, for you to have this reaction to it can only be explained if you have some sympathies for antifa or you identify with their cause. You also confirmed it yourself at least even if others may continue to be in denial, and that makes you a moral idiot. There is no reason why you should believe that you are any better than then fundies you rail against and the same goes for those of you that still support lockdowns, ruining the lives of billions using actual fascist methods to stop a virus based on alarmist projections about the rate of spread and fatality. Remember when the Imperial College of London projected 100k dead in Sweden by July? Never happened.

Someone did more than just 'Punch' Fascists: that person shot them; also helped others kill Fascists.

Does that make said person as Antifa as it's possible to be?

Antifa is a wide variety of different groups calling themselves that. A few of them are extreme and call pretty much anything fascist that is not part of their communist utopia and yes, some of them do engage in property damage… interestingly while criminal not something that would be called terrorism for a good reason.
Most I know though simply want fascism to never get a foothold in the world again, which is fully justified. Just because two groups call themselves the same thing doesn’t mean that they have the same goal. Mormons call themselves Christians, but they are not the same thing as the catholic church. Not being able to differentiate this is simply building a strawman at best, propaganda at worst.
Not to mention that many groups Trump and the right call Antifa aren’t actually part of the Antifa, nor have they called themselves that in any way.

Now as Basthetotep said, we here on FSTDT are a very heterogeneous bunch. But I’ve rarely seen people acting like the WBC, with the possible exception of some very likely trolls who got the banhammer at some point or the other, indicating that we don’t think this is acceptable behavior. You know, it’s not yet a crime to criticize capitalism, nor to believe in an eventual communist utopia… and I know that many here do neither. You are forcing an association here that is fraudulent.

Your last rant about the Corona virus, which is way off-topic only shows that you are not actually argumenting in good faith. How anyone can still say that the lockdowns are based on alarmist projections after all the dead people around the world and the rise of multiple even more infectious mutations of the virus is beyond me. Are we really going to play this game of “not all antifa”? One could overlook isolated incidents of violence, with antifa it’s a regular thing and when they march, stuff gets broken. And where are these pro-capitalist antifa groups I keep hearing about?

I am not denying there are lots of deaths from COVID, and I haven’t ignored the problem in my personal life as far as contact with older relatives go, the problem is the number doesn’t match what we were told would happen and the government does not deserve to have that much power, not even temporarily. We’ve also seen how this power of locking down is abused worldwide. If as much as 100 million could be reduced to extreme poverty that is not a price worth paying to stop or slow down a virus.

Look at their models for US and UK, they said 81% would be infected and you’d see 2.2 million dead Americans, 510k dead British, with the peak of daily deaths being reached in 3 months if there was no mitigation and the spread effectively ending after 6 months.

None of this happened as expected, not to the extent it was expected for the period the prediction was made.

And it’s disingenuous to blame people for not following the rules, when some would literally starve to death or go insane from the boredom or become less healthy (and thus more susceptible to COVID) if they followed all the insane rules by which no human society has ever functioned before. I ‘support’ (sympathize with) Antifa because I believe that though individual members of the group do shitty things, they are not even remotely comparable to the people they’re clashing with. That’s not a majority opinion on this site, according to my knowledge. The *majority* of antifascist property destruction is directed at corporate and government institutions. Hardly the picture Fox paints of mom-and-pop stores getting razed by teenagers in black. That’s not a blanket approval for eevrything the so-called group does, hences the asterikses. It’s a known fact that false flags infiltrate Antifa events, also, which, for me, makes it difficult to know what to trust.

I’m fervently anti-Trump due to the blatant threat he poses to democracy and the way his policies have accelerated the climate crisis. Obviously, I’m not happy with his COVID response, but I understand things could’ve been a lot worse. I believe that when the government does not act to defend the people, the people have a right to defend themselves. Take what happened in the Capitol yesterday. What happened was either criminal negligence or intentional sabotage.

And for the record, my political screeds aren’t limited to Trump. I have plenty of ravings about Ted Wheeler and Joe Biden, if you’re interested. That being said, FSTDT isn’t supposed to be an overtly political site, so I tend to keep that to myself. I do have sympathies for Antifa and somewhat identify with their cause.

This is not the “No true scottsman” fallacy. I didn’t say that the ones doing the property damage AREN’T antifa. I actually said that yeah, some of them are. The problem, as I said before, is that people like you claim that basically any left-wing demonstration, any riot, anyone plundering or what have you is “antifa”, even if they didn’t claim that for themselves or whether antifa even has anything to do with it. On the other hand you willfully ignore those who peacefully demonstrate under the banner of antifa and YES, those exist, believe it or not. As such in this case I have to call for differentiation because you are putting people under one banner without them actually affiliating with the group in question with the goal of vilify them.

Also, why the fuck would it make anything better if one of the Antifa groups is pro-capitalist? I definitely didn’t imply that any of them have to be or are. Being not pro-capitalist isn’t bad, nor automatically wrong, no matter how much you’d like that to be true (and neither is being not pro-capitalist automatically equal to being communist).

I will simply ignore your rant, since it has nothing to do with the topic and your arguments are the same common and mostly false myths that show a blatant disregard of the dangers of a pandemic, its biological causes and the reasons for the measures that were taken so far. But as I said, mostly because it has absolutely nothing to do with the topic at hand.
