I sometimes wonder if this dogged belief that genitals don't matter (beyond just functioning to "affirm") stems from some men's (mainly TIM's) sexuality in which the artificial presentation of gender is what is attractive, not necessarily the sex of the person. This isn't to say that heterosexual TIMs aren't attracted to women, but I'm more so considering the bisexual (or pseudo-bisexual, depending on who you ask) TIMs. This may not make any sense, but I'm curious if anyone's got any thoughts on this, even if it's to say I'm full of shit.

I believe you're describing performative femininity. It's why some hetero males are okay with sexual relationships with TIMs because "it looks like a woman". They aren't exclusively attracted to the female body, they're attracted to the patriarchal idea of what a woman should look like. I imagine they also have no issues wearing knock off designer clothes and fake jewelry. If it looks real enough, then it's good enough.

I don't know if you can even really consider those men heterosexual if they're with a TIM (given that the vast majority of TIMs retain their male genitalia/don't mutilate themselves... and also because they are men immutably due to their chromosomal makeup). I feel like this is almost it's own separate fetish category. And also suspect these men are bisexual or gay but in denial.

That does make sense. We know that men fuck literal objects, and male insects fuck flowers (no, that's not a birds and bees analogy, there literally is an orchid whose flowers resemble the female of a certain species of insect, and that's it's reproduction strategy)

I mean, most of it is probably just wanting to rape lesbians, but there could be a few confused individual men who just don't understand that women in general (and many men) are not attracted to the trappings of femininity, but to actual women.
