I can't believe we were libertarians once. It is the political philosophy of children.
Many of the American founding fathers supported the French Revolution.
The French Revolution beheaded thousands of nuns, bishops, and Catholic children.
What does that tell you about our country?
It was never illegal to do good things (until recently). Libertarians only want freedom to do bad and unhealthy things. A political ideology which strives to make society unhealthy is something that should be condemned, not promoted.
Cancel culture would be pretty cool if it were right-wingers doing the canceling

Given that "cancel culture!" usually means "shut up, sit down, and let the bigots say what they want": yes, the right-wingers are already the ones doing the cancelling.
I don't need the concept of ‘Belief' to know that I've always been a Labour voter since I turned 18: the simple fact of living through 1979-1990 made sure of that
Maggie Thatcher (*spit *) - a.k.a. ‘Raygun's Poodle' - said ‘There is no such thing as society: only individuals ’. Well, someone else said very recently ‘There is such thing as society'; and with the kind of spending the last year or so that not even a Corbynite Labour Party could have ever imagined that was hyper-socialistic, coupled with the damage to the UK economy Coronavirus has done, political experts have said that ‘Thatcherism' is officially dead. And all via a Conservative PM, Bozo the Clown, that a certain Orange… thing referred to as a ‘Terrific Guy'.
Bozo has said he's more of a Libertarian .
So I'm afraid that right-wingers can't cancel one simple fact from their ‘Culture': unless they unperson Donald Fart.
Then what - certainly who - do you right-wingers have left …?!

I read that most of the younger generations in the UK reject all that Thatcher / Tory / Boris / Brexit crap and it’s mostly the middle-aged and older who are the xenophobic boobs. With that in mind, there is hope. Hopefully a revitalized Labour Party will sweep everything next time and rejoin the EU.
The above holds true for the USA and even Japan. The Millennials, Zoomers and those after will save us.
I’m happy that Biden is President and he, Harris and the Democratic Party have done much good. Things are looking up. We just have to keep on fighting.

There’s a difference between 1789, who mainly wanted to give more liberties to France, and 1793, which indeed featured the “permanent guillotine”.
And given how you supported a right-wing driven cancel culture, I’m sure you would want anyone not supporting the far-right to be purged. What’s the meaning to give to “Liberty”, if you are supporting purging your opponents?

She is weirdly quite when it comes to fundamental evangelical Christians and their feelings about Catholics. That is a blind spot for her. Like she ignores what they think about her because being a conservative is more important.
To everyone pointing out the hatred of Catholics that many Evangelicals have traditionally had, I’ve not noticed that much in recent decades. As much as they would deny it, even conservative Christians can change. They used to hate Jews, but now many of them genuinely think that loving Israel makes them pro Jewish. Pretty much all of the conservatives in the judiciary are Federalist Society Catholics.
I hate to compare it to racism, but it’s kinda like how many modern day white supremacists will happily include Slavs and Poles in their ranks, whereas in the past, those were the people who would come right after the Jews.
