I think I significant portion of leftist literalism (i.e. inability to see anything beyond written definition: literal meaning) stems from their own egotistical insecurities.

They CRAVE to be taken seriously.

In their mind, to be taken seriously is a way to command power and respect.

But when you have to INVENT injustice just to have something to be taken seriously over - like boycotting a game because of a single cosmetic option victory pose - ... it's unlikely sane people will listen. ... ergo they have to shut off their own brains in order to avoid questioning their own motives and muster enough charisma to sell this bullshit in order to gain power through respect.

At that point the leftist becomes a literalist: incapable of independent creative thought beyond the literal definition angs what other people tell them.

I'm more often hear the right boycotting games. As for the rest of this pig vomit, why should I show respect for someone who thinks my fucking brain doesn't work merely because of my politics? The world would be a better place if the different political parties could actually debate like adults but fuckers like this make it impossible.

I’m really actually pretty curious what game he’s talking about having been boycotted, and why. If he’s basing this on something Anita Sarkeesian said about a game one time, I got news for him, her audience is a lot more limited than she’ll admit.

Your guess is as good as mine. But I'd hazard a guess that one of said games that had gotten their collective panties in a knot was "Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus":

While the game itself was not intended to reference current events, Bethesda, supported by MachineGames, opted to use current attitudes towards Nazis from these events in its marketing of the title. Bethesda's Marketing VP Pete Hines stated: "We weren't going to hide from the fact our game is about killing Nazis and freeing the US from their rule, and if we can reference current events as part of talking about the game, so be it. Nazis are evil. We aren't afraid to remind people of that". The game adopted the phrase "Make America Nazi-Free Again", based on Donald Trump's slogan "Make America Great Again", as its primary advertising tagline. What the hell is this idiot even saying? He thinks it’s childish that we expect people to mean what they say and call out false or misleading statements? That when people are in positions of political power where everything they say is taken as a statement of intent by foreign powers we damned well expect them to be accountable to the reaction? And the way he says people crave to be taken seriously is kind of an admission that he doesn’t even pay attention to anyone else and flatly ignores logical arguments or real problems which if you apply that to a public servant means they are fundamentally incapable of serving the public because they just ignore them.

Are you trying to shoot yourself in the foot here, Jon? Or do you think if you muster enough confidence when you say senseless things it will give you an air of charisma that it will make people agree with you before they actually think about what you said?

Also as I’ve had many occasions to point out a lack of originality or creativity is something of a defining trait of the far right, whose only genuine creative outlet is conspiracy theories that don’t make any sense.
