Trump is able to use tariffs to control headline inflation, which the Democrats are trying to run on in 2026. Raise tariffs right after he enters office, which artificially raises inflation a little bit, but then he has the ability to cut them in 2026 which lowers headline year over year inflation to 2% or less right around the midterms. The lower inflation reading will give a timely market bounce and enable the fed to cut rates. It's an excellent strategy.
