Trump is being impeached because he's strongly suspected of committing crimes as president. He has a long history of being a shady asshole going back decades.
The pledge is still being said in schools, as far as I know. Why does it matter anyway? It's just words.

We barely have a national healthcare system and it wouldn't cost so much now if we had implemented back in the 60s like we wanted. Costs will go down once people start getting the care they need and we become more healthy as a population.
We had socialism back in the 60s and 70s. Several socialist/democratic socialist parties existed in the US since the 50s. Didn't you hear about the Weather Underground setting off bombs in the 70s?
