I believe what they think actually happened is that some other species got the covid-19 virus from bats which passed it on to humans, probably in the live meat markets in Wuhan. Apparantly something similar happened with SARS and they discovered that when they found viruses very similar to SARS in tbe bat population. They say that coronaviruses are pretty common in bat populations. Somebody probably heard about the bat thing and the meat market thing and just jumped to the conclusion that somebody caught this virus from eating a bat.

Here in California, we're supposed to be "sheltering in place" but it's supposed to be okay to go outside to get excercize as long as you keep away from other people.
