What I’m curious about is how suddenly people became convinced that COVID-19 originated from somebody eating a bat. I know they traced the first known cases to a market in Wuhan and somebody made the not-necessarily-relevant observation that unusual meats were on sale there in defiance of government regulations but I’m pretty sure that if this was something that had jumped the species barrier and the consumption of animal meat was a transmission vector this would be an even bigger deal than it currently is and we’d be getting some very urgent warnings. Like AIDS in Africa levels of shit being fucked with human-to-human transmission suddenly dropping on the list of threats as potentially all wildlife - including animals raised for human consumption - becoming carriers would be a possibility.
Ok, here’s another one for the lab. I suggest we use him to find a C Virus vaccine & then incinerate his carcass.

I believe what they think actually happened is that some other species got the covid-19 virus from bats which passed it on to humans, probably in the live meat markets in Wuhan. Apparantly something similar happened with SARS and they discovered that when they found viruses very similar to SARS in tbe bat population. They say that coronaviruses are pretty common in bat populations. Somebody probably heard about the bat thing and the meat market thing and just jumped to the conclusion that somebody caught this virus from eating a bat.
