You know, I actually feel kinda bad for the media these days. Stuck between these nutjobs (who think they’re too progressive) and SJWs (who think they’re not progressive enough), it seems like they cannot please anyone anymore…

Why can’t we just all agree that an entertaining movie/game/show is just that? Entertainment? And doesn’t need to be taken so friggin’ seriously or even personally? Let’s just enjoy Endgame for the awesome movie it was and worry about RL stuff some other time.

IMO, there is nothing wrong with order on it’s own, as long as it’s balanced enough with a decent amount of freedom & chaos (*). But from my experience (and Star Wars), nobody who preaces about “bringing order and stability and justice” is in any way a good guy, because to them, order = power & tyrrany. Power is just a means to an end, not an end by itself.

(*)Personally, as much as I prefer order in my life, I fully realize that order & chaos must always be balanced out. Too much of either one is always equally and very bad.

I’m a high-functioning autistic person (or asperger, depending on who you ask) myself. And I admit it can be a burden both to me and people around me. But at least I try to grow into a better person. And tell you what? Since it’s likely my autism that makes me such a rational, intelligent, and honest person, I’d rather keep it (warts and all) than take the chance of turning out like the myriads assholes quoted here. And that’s saying something, considering some of the worst moments of my life are associated with my autism(*).

(*)Mostly my school life, where I was bullied by both students and teachers alike for the crime of being “different”. And that was before I was even officially diagnosed, so I had no idea why.

Oh, I’m fully aware that Tolkien is hardly the only one. He was just the first name that popped up. In fact, I personally think Middle Earth is a bit boring because it’s too mundane for a fantasy world. I for one greatly like the fantasy world of the Elder Scrolls more, but that’s just me.

As for Sci Fi, I agree. It also has the potential to contain great and imaginative settings. I’m a big fan of Star Wars, Halo, & Mass Effect, especially their EU novels. And while I prefer experiencing Sci fi as story material, I do think that a proper fantasy world is a bit more “magical”, pun partially intended. I often find that “Urban fantasy” is a good middle ground.

Still, I’m not familiar with all the names you gave, I’ll have to look some up. Thanks for expanding my horizons.
