I was having this discussion with a friend last night, and I think she's right: A lot of incels are secretly gay, but they hate themselves for it and take out that hatred on women. There's really no excuse for this misogyny beyond the ridiculous and contradictory stories incels tell themselves and each other about the nature of women. This friend even suggested some of them are trans oh, and her logic makes sense: they see some women acting in a manner which they feel dishonors the bodies they were naturally giving but that a transsexual would have to fight for.

Or they could just be assholes who don't know any women. But of course it's their looks; they're "nice guys", but can't get a date because women, those fickle creatures, expect to be treated like human beings.

There is a small body of evidence that we may inherit survival behaviors that were necessary for our most immediate ancestors but that become maladaptive to us. (Mice do.) If this is true, it lends credence to a controversial theory called Post Traumatic Slave Syndrome.
