Intelligence IS ability. The more intelligent you are, the more able you are at solving problems, both in your head and using tools and strength/perseverance/skills.

Intelligence is also power. For social animals, like humans, it’s preferable to attain things by cooperation, with skills or by trading your skills for other people’s skills. An individual who just take what he or she wants won’t be popular in the long run, and will probably be ostracized from society sooner or later.
5’7 is fairly average height. Building a storage room with shelves that can’t be reached by an average-height person is stupid.

IQ is just the ability to answer tests correctly. Have you not been educated for the ability to answer those tests, you’d be seen as lower-IQ, but you might have other intelligent qualities.
