Taking a page out of the book of yours truly, Stephen King takes a stance against diversity, and of course, gets blasted online for it.

King is actually a leftist himself, but to his credit he has some class and offers that quality shouldn't be sacrificed just for the sake of diversity.

In a series of tweets, the legendary horror novelist reveals he nominates for the Oscars where he reveals that diversity isn't a factor at all when it comes to how he votes.

King I can buy dies it in God faith, unlike this author. Has he ever suspected good quality works are ignored because of diverse creators? Its happened before.

It’s not a good tweet IMO. I think that if you’re going to be making nominations, you should be seeking out and consuming all kinds of films from a wide variety of people then making your decision on quality. You really shouldn’t assume that there are no minorities in a genre/media group just because you never ward of them. Seek it out and read/watch/listen to their work.

If you oppose diversity you promote at best mediocrity.

No, it wasn’t a good tweet and his privilege was definitely showing. However, what he said doesn’t support your argument either, OP, he didn’t say diversity is bad, he just said he didn’t pay attention to diversity when considering Oscar nominees.

It wasn't so terrible what King said, just his opinion, and quality from anyone is important. He doesn't deserve to be cancelled, unlike some.

King’s stance isn’t so bad as long as that applies to what media he seeks out, and avoids, as well. If he’s watching movies from a variety of creators, instead of just a “certain” small hand full, then putting quality of what he’s seen over the background of the creator is genuinely putting quality over all other factors. Seeking out media only from certain people though, and then claiming you put quality over personal background, would be disingenuous. You don’t have to consider skin color above quality if you only view one skin color!

Two of the main characters in The Gunslinger series, by King, form an interracial couple. In the movie version, those two are removed, but THE GUNSLINGER is played by a black actor. King has said it was a pretty good movie.

There are people of various races on both sides in his novel The Stand, as well as LGBT characters serving Dark and Light.

If he was actually to “Taking a page out of the book of (self-important idiot)” and take “a stance against diversity,” you’d think he wouldn’t have produced ‘diverse’ novels, nu?
Or maybe he just used ‘People.’ Doesn’t see diversity as a goal so much as a fact of life?

A conundrum… Except at the least, we can be sure hd does NOT take a page from OP’s book. He writes his own books.
